Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office
The District Attorney of Los Angeles County is in charge of the office that prosecutes felony and misdemeanor crimes that occur within Los Angeles County, California, United States. The current district attorney (DA) is Nathan Hochman. Some misdemeanor crimes are prosecuted by local city attorneys. City attorneys prosecute misdemeanors and infractions that are violations of the municipal code governing incorporated cities, such as Los Angeles and Long Beach, within the county. All other felony and misdemeanors within Los Angeles County are prosecuted by the district attorney's office. According to the district attorney's official website, the office is the largest local prosecutor's office in the United States. The Los Angeles County Public Defender provides legal assistance to individuals charged with a crime who are financially unable to hire and pay for their own private lawyers. Nathan Hochman
Nathan Joseph Hochman (born November 26, 1963) is an American politician and attorney who has served as the 44th Los Angeles County District Attorney, District Attorney of Los Angeles County since 2024. Hochman is a former federal prosecutor and Assistant U.S. Attorney General. Hochman served as United States Assistant Attorney General for the United States Department of Justice Tax Division, Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice in 2008. Prior to that, Hochman was an Assistant United States Attorney for the Central District of California from 1990 to 1997, serving in the Criminal Division. Hochman also had an extensive career in the private sector, as a partner of several nationwide firms and as a leading expert in tax law, criminal defense, and environmental law, and prior to becoming district attorney, was General Counsel at Ross LLP. James McLachlan (American Politician)
James McLachlan (August 1, 1852 – November 21, 1940) was an American educator, lawyer and politician who served six terms as a U.S. Representative from California. Early life McLachlan was born in Argyllshire, Scotland, on August 1, 1852. He immigrated to the United States in 1855 with his parents, who settled in Tompkins County, New York. He was reared on a farm there. Education He attended the public schools in Tompkins County. Eventually, he attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, graduating in 1878. Career Even before McLachlan went to college, he was a teacher in the public schools he had attended. He was elected school commissioner of Tompkins County in 1877, while still earning his degree. William Rodney Hudson (born July 12, 1989) is an American former professional football player who was a center in the National Football League (NFL).
