''London'' is the third studio album by British group D-Influence released in 1997 by Echo Records. The album reached No. 8 on the UK R&B Albums chart and No. 6 on the UK Independent Albums chart. Singles "Hypnotize" peaked at No. 33 on the UK Pop Singles Chart, No. 3 on the UK Dance Singles Chart and No. 8 on the UK R&B Singles Chart. Another single, "Magic", reached No. 19 on the UK Dance Singles Chart, No. 13 on the UK R&B Singles Chart and No. 19 on the UK Independent Singles Chart. D'Influence
D'Influence (also D-Influence and D*Influence) is a British production team and acid jazz band. Formerly of The Echo Label, they founded their own label, Freakstreet Records. Original members include Kwame Kwaten, Sarah-Ann Webb, Ed Baden-Powell, Ned Bigham and Steve Marston. Biography D'Influence emerged in 1990 from the UK club scene. The group eventually issued, in August 1992, their debut album entitled '' Good 4 We'' on East West Records. That album reached No. 7 on the ''Blues & Soul'' Top British Soul Albums chart. The song "Good Lover" from the LP also got to No. 11 on the ''Blues & Soul'' Top British Soul Singles chart. The Dance Singles Chart and the Dance Albums Chart are music charts compiled in the United Kingdom by the Official Charts Company from sales of songs in the dance music genre (e.g. house, trance, drum and bass, garage, synth-pop) in record stores and digital downloads The chart can be viewed on the BBC Radio 1's and Official Charts Company's website. From 1981 the Media Research Information Bureau compiled a disco and dance chart that was published in several music weeklies. The Official Albums Chart is the United Kingdom's industry-recognised national record chart for album, albums. Entries are ranked by sales and audio streaming. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on ''UKChartsPlus'' as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of ''The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums'') in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed, this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as ''The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums'' only including this data. Kwame Kwaten
Kwame Amankwa Kwaten (born 13 May 1967) is a British manager, music consultant, musician and record producer. He owns an artist management and consultancy company called Ferocious Talent and is a co-founder of Cr8ing Vision, a non-profit company that offers young people a range of educational programmes, seminars, workshops and opportunities in both the music and sport industries. Past and present artists managed by Kwaten include Laura Mvula, The Night VI, Steve Brown, Shannon Saunders and Kerry Leatham. In 1989, Kwaten was part of a band, D-Influence, who were opening acts for Michael Jackson, and produced tracks for a number of prominent musicians including Shola Ama, Jay-Z and Mick Jagger. Aside from running Ferocious Talent, Kwaten is involved in A&R in Believe Records and is part of the new wave jazz movement in Europe and London. Galliano (band)
Galliano are a London-based acid jazz group that were originally active between 1988 and 1997. Galliano was the first record on Eddie Piller and Gilles Peterson's Acid Jazz record label. Then was the first signing to Peterson's newly formed 'Talking Loud Records'. Original member Robert Gallagher (vocals – credited as Roberto Galliano), was joined by Constantine Weir (vocals), and Crispin Robinson (percussion) that would perform Last Poets influenced spoken word pieces. Michael Snaith (The Vibe Controller) joined as the trio became a band in order to tour their first album on Talking Loud 'In Pursuit of the 13th note'. The album featured Roy Ayers, and was awarded an Edison Populair writing award in 1992. The Brand New Heavies are an English band formed in 1985, consisting of Simon Bartholomew, Andrew Levy, and Jan Kincaid. After the addition of N'Dea Davenport in 1990, the group experienced mainstream success and pioneered a new genre called acid jazz. The Brand New Heavies released their debut self-titled album in June 1990. The album was reissued in 1991 with newly recorded vocals by American singer-songwriter N'Dea Davenport, a new addition to the lineup. Jamiroquai
Jamiroquai ( ) are an English acid jazz and funk band from London. Formed in 1992, they are fronted by vocalist Jay Kay, and were prominent in the London-based funk and acid jazz movement of the 1990s. They built on their acid jazz sound in their early releases and later drew from Rock music, rock, disco, Electronic music, electronic and Latin music genres. Lyrically, the group have addressed Social justice, social and environmental justice. Kay has remained the only constant member through several line-up changes.
