Liveleak
LiveLeak was a British video sharing website headquartered in London. It was founded on 31 October 2006, in part by the team behind Ogrish.com, a shock site that closed on the same day. LiveLeak aimed to freely host real footage of politics, war and many other world events and to encourage citizen journalism, although it later became known to host videos with gore and extreme violence. It shut down on 5 May 2021, and the URL was changed to redirect to ItemFix, another video sharing site. History LiveLeak first came to prominence in 2007 following the filming and leaking of the execution of Saddam Hussein. This, among others, earned the site a mention from White House Press Secretary Tony Snow as the likely place to see updates or stories from active American soldiers. Ogrish
Ogrish.com was a shock site that presented uncensored news coverage and multimedia material based for the most part on war and war crimes, industrial/machinery accidents, and executions. Much of the material depicted was graphic, uncensored, gory videos and images. The content was depicted as a means to challenge the viewer, with its catch line being "can you handle life?", but later changed to "uncover reality" after the site received a major design overhaul with aims of becoming more open to the general public and become a respected "alternative news service". From November 2006 to May 2021, Ogrish.com redirected to LiveLeak, which was registered in October 2006. Shock Site
A shock site is a website that is intended to be offensive or disturbing to its viewers, though it can also contain elements of humor or evoke (in some viewers) sexual arousal. Shock-oriented websites generally contain material that is pornographic, scatological, racist, antisemitic, sexist, graphically violent, insulting, vulgar, profane, or of some other provocative nature.
