A nonbuilding structure, often referred to simply as a structure, is any built structure or construction structure that is not a building, i.e. not designed for continuous human occupancy. Origins In ancient Italy, basilicas began as large, covered buildings near city centers, adjacent to the forum, often at the opposite end from a Roman temple, temple.
