Track Cycling
Track cycling is a Cycle sport, bicycle racing sport usually held on specially built banked tracks or velodromes using purpose-designed track bicycles. History Track cycling has been around since at least 1870. When track cycling was in its infancy, it was held on velodromes similar to the ones used today. These velodromes consisted of two straights and slightly banked turns, though they varied more in length and material than the modern 250 m track. One appeal of indoor track racing was that spectators could be easily controlled, and hence an entrance fee could be charged, making track racing a lucrative sport. Early track races attracted crowds of up to 2,000 people. Indoor tracks also enabled year-round cycling for the first time. The main early centers for track racing in Britain were Birmingham, Sheffield, Liverpool, Manchester and London. Trofeo Alfredo Binda-Comune di Cittiglio is a one day women's professional road bicycle racing event held annually in the ''comune'' (municipality) of Cittiglio and nearby comunes located within the Province of Varese in the region of Lombardy in northern Italy. First held in 1974, Trofeo Alfredo Binda is one of the oldest and most established races in the women's calendar, and has been part of the UCI Women's World Tour since its inception in 2016. History Trofeo Alfredo Binda was first held as a regional event in 1974. The race became a national event in 1999, before becoming an international event from 2007. In 2008, the race joined the UCI Women's Road World Cup. In 2016, the race became part of the new UCI Women's World Tour. From 2025, the race has moved backwards one week in the calendar, allowing Milan–San Remo Women to join the UCI Women's World Tour. La Course by Le Tour de France was an elite List of women's road bicycle races, women's professional road bicycle race held in France. First held in 2014 as a one-day race on the Champs-Élysées stage in the Tour de France, Champs-Élysées in Paris, it was part of the UCI Women's WorldTour since 2016 as a one or two day race. The race was organised by the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), the organisers of the Tour de France. It was replaced from 2022 onwards by Tour de France Femmes, a multi day stage race organised by ASO. Giro Donne
The is an annual women's cycle stage race around Italy. First held in 1988, the race is currently part of the UCI Women's World Tour, and is currently organised by RCS Sport, the organisers of the men's Giro d'Italia. The race was previously branded as the Giro d'Italia Femminile prior to 2013, the Giro Rosa from 2013 to 2020, and the Giro Donne from 2021 to 2023. The race has been considered the most prestigious stage race in women's road cycling, with some teams and media referring to the race as a 'Grand Tour'. However, the race does not meet the UCI definition of such an event. It has generally held over nine or ten days in early July each year, competing for attention with the more famous men's . The Tour of Britain Women is a women's cycle stage race held in England and Wales, as part of the UCI Women's World Tour. The race was organised between 2014 and 2023 by SweetSpot, the company behind the men's Tour of Britain, and was known as The Women's Tour. Emakumeen Euskal Bira
The Emakumeen Euskal Bira was a women's cycling race held in the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country, Spain. It was held annually from 1988 to 2019, starting out as a two-stage race and building up to five stages in 2007. One of these stages was always a double stage. It was rated a UCI race classifications, 2.1 category race from 2005 to 2017 and a UCI Women's World Tour, 2.WWT event in 2018 and 2019. The name of the race changed during the years, from 1988 to 2007 it was called Emakumeen Bira and from 2008 to 2011 Iurreta-Emakumeen Bira. The race ended after its 2019 edition. In 2022 a new stage race in Basque Country called Itzulia Women was organised. The Women's Tour of California is the women's event of the Tour of California, an annual road bicycle racing event in California, United States. The Tour of Chongming Island International Cycling Race is an annual elite women's road bicycle racing stage race held in Shanghai, China, named after Chongming Island. The Tour previously consisted of two races: a stage race and a one-day race. Between 2007 and 2009, the one-day race was a time trial; in 2010, the time trial was replaced by a one-day race, referred to as the ''Tour of Chongming Island World Cup'', that was part of the UCI Women's Road World Cup until 2015. The Amstel Gold Race is a one-day classic road cycling race held annually in the province of Limburg, Netherlands. Held in mid-April on the same day as the men's event, the race starts in Maastricht and finishes in Berg en Terblijt, Valkenburg. It features 21 categorized climbs, including four ascents of the Cauberg.
