The following is a list of games ordered vacated or forfeited by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in college basketball. The list does not include forfeits imposed by individual conferences. As a private association, the NCAA only changes its own records to reflect forfeits or vacations that its own Committee on Infractions has ordered, and not for sanctions imposed by individual conferences. Vacated Victories
In American college athletics, a vacated victory is a win that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has stripped from an athletic program, usually as punishment for misconduct related to its sports teams. The team being punished is officially stripped of its victory, but the opposing team retains its loss—thus, vacated victories are different from forfeits, in which the losing team is given the win. The practice of vacating victories has been criticized by players and sports journalists, but remains one of the NCAA's preferred penalties for infractions related to past misconduct. Jim O'Brien (basketball, Born 1950)
James J. O'Brien (born April 9, 1950) is an American college basketball coach who has served as coach of St. Bonaventure University (1982–1986), Boston College (1986–1997), Ohio State University (1997–2004) and Emerson College, a Division III school in Boston (2011–2014). O'Brien was hired as Ohio State head coach on April 7, 1997, after the firing of previous coach Randy Ayers. O'Brien guided the Buckeye program to the 1999 Final Four, 2000 and 2002 Big Ten regular-season co-championships, the 2002 Big Ten tournament Championship, four 20-win seasons and a school-record four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances (1999–2002). Jerry Tarkanian
Jerry Tarkanian (August 8, 1930 – February 11, 2015) was an American basketball coach. He coached college basketball for 31 seasons over five decades at three schools. He spent the majority of his career coaching with the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, leading them four times to the Final Four of the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, winning the national championship in 1990. Tarkanian revolutionized the college game at UNLV, utilizing a pressing defense to fuel its fast-paced offense. Neil McCarthy (May 18, 1939 – September 18, 2021) was an American college basketball coach. He was head coach of the Weber State Wildcats men's basketball, Weber State Wildcats team from 1974 to 1985 and at the New Mexico State Aggies men's basketball, New Mexico State Aggies from 1985 to 1997. NCAA Division II (D-II) is the intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
