London is a city in southwestern Ontario, Canada, along the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor. The city had a population of 422,324 according to the 2021 Canadian census. Medway High School is a high school in Arva in Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada, approximately one kilometre north of London, Ontario, Canada city limits. History Medway was built in 1949. Its original name was East Middlesex High School, but it was known locally as the Arva School. The name was changed to Medway to reflect the Medway Creek which winds through the area. Medway was part of the Middlesex County Board of Education. Today it is part of the Thames Valley District School Board, which is Ontario's third largest board. ''Madeline'' is a media franchise that originated as a series of children's books written and illustrated by Ludwig Bemelmans. The books have been adapted into numerous formats, spawning telefilms, television series and a live action feature film. The stories take place in a Catholic boarding school in Paris. The teacher, named Miss Clavel, is strict but loves the children, cares for them, and is open to their ideas. Most of the media starts with the line "In an old house in Paris that was covered in vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines ..." and end with an invocation of a famous phrase used by Ethel Barrymore to rebuff curtain calls: " That's all there is, there isn't any more". The stories often are written entirely in rhyme, include simple themes of daily life, and the playful but harmless mischief of Madeline, which appeal to children and parents alike. The London International Airport is an airport located in London, Ontario, Canada. It is located northeast of the city of London, Ontario and is classified as an airport of entry by Transport Canada. In 2023, the airport was listed as the 17th busiest airport in Canada in terms of aircraft movements with 102,122 flights. École secondaire Gabriel-Dumont is a public French first language high school in London, Ontario, Canada. It is located in south-east London on Evans Blvd, in the Summerside subdivision. It is named after Métis leader Gabriel Dumont. The president of the school is Anabelle Stinson. Proportionate to its size, London has an extremely small francophone population; however, it qualifies for French language services under the ''French Language Services Act'', and also qualifies to have French schools. While there have been French elementary schools in London since 1972, it was not until 1979 that a French high school was created. Originally it was only one class, at London Central Secondary School. École élémentaire Marie-Curie, previously known as London French School and École Alexandra, is a public French first language elementary school in London, Ontario, Canada. It is located on Hunt Club Drive off Oxford Street West in the north-western neighbourhood of Oakridge. London has a very small francophone population, but became eligible for French learning institutions when the Government of Ontario amended the Education Act in 1968 to officially recognize French language schools in the province. Marie Curie opened in 1972 under the name of "London French School" and was located downtown on King Street. It was soon renamed "École Alexandra" after Princess Alexandra. Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School or Laurier is a high school located at 450 Millbank Drive in the south east end of London, Ontario, Canada. The school is in the Thames Valley District School Board. The school has 1,114 students and 80 teachers and is named after Canadian Prime Minister Sir Wilfrid Laurier. The school colours are green and blue. It is one of two French immersion high schools in the area. Athletics and clubs Sir Wilfrid Laurier S.S has plenty of athletic opportunities available for its students. Popular sports include American football and cross country in the fall, as well as volleyball and basketball in the winter. Many other individual or small team sports are offered as well. Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School
Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School is a high school located in London, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Thames Valley District School Board. The school is named after Sir Frederick Banting, who won the Nobel Prize for the discovery of insulin in 1923. The school was officially opened in 1969 with Lady Banting, widow of Sir Frederick Banting, in attendance. The founding principal (1968–1970) was George A. Robbins. Banting is recognized for having a strong French Immersion program and a music program. Currently 1,893 students from grade 9–12 are enrolled. Irene Mathyssen, the former Member of Parliament for London-Fanshawe, taught English at the school until she was elected in the 2006 federal election.
