Aan River
The Aan River is a short river in the South Island of New Zealand. The river flows out of Lake Innes and into the sea on the southern coast of the South Island. The river may be reached on foot via the South Coast Track, which crosses it via a suspension bridge. It also has a tributary that drains the basin to the south of the 1189-metre high Mount Aitkin. Anaweka River
The Anaweka River is small river in a remote area of the Tasman District of New Zealand. Its source is on the slopes of Mount White in the Wakamarama Range. Aropaoanui River
The Aropaoanui (Awapawanui) river runs through northern Hawke's Bay Region in the eastern North Island of New Zealand. Etymology Aropaoanui is a Māori word which roughly translates to 'big smoke'. In local myth, the area was named when the local tribe were roasting their captives on a fire after a victory in battle. The fatty pulp around the kidneys of their victims began to bubble, giving the impression that the victims were still alive, which terrified the tribespeople. Geography The upper part of the river, above its junction with the Mairau Stream, is called the Waikoau River, a name also given to a river in the South Island. The Waikoau rises from streams on the Maungaharuru Range, running generally south-southeastwards, flowing through steep-sided gullies. It is joined by a tributary, the Mahiaruhe Stream, which is the main outflow of Lake Tūtira, also known as Tūtira Stream where it leaves the lake, after which it continues south along the lake's western flank. The Arnold River () is a river on the West Coast Region, West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. It is the outflow of Lake Brunner, which it links with the Grey River (New Zealand), Grey River at Stillwater, West Coast, Stillwater. Aparima River
The Aparima River, earlier known as Jacob's River, is one of the southward-flowing braided rivers of Southland, New Zealand. Description The Aparima has its headwaters in the Takitimu Mountains, south of Lake Te Anau, and flows south for before entering Foveaux Strait near Riverton at the north end of Oreti Beach. A Māori man lived at the mouth of the river who was called Jacob by local whalers, and 'Jacob's River' was in early use for both the river and the settlement that established itself. The Aorere River is in the Tasman District of the South Island of New Zealand that flows from headwaters in the alpine regions of the Kahurangi National Park.
