Line 8 of the Madrid Metro opened between Mar de Cristal (Madrid Metro), Mar de Cristal and Campo de las Naciones (now Feria de Madrid (Madrid Metro), Feria de Madrid) on 24 June 1998. An extension to Barajas via Madrid Airport was opened in 1999 and in 2002 an extension to Nuevos Ministerios and Colombia opened. Route 8 on Hong Kong Island is an express bus service operated by Citybus (Hong Kong), Citybus, between Exhibition Centre station (MTR), Exhibition Centre station and Heng Fa Chuen. History Route 8 was started by China Motor Bus on 12 November 1949, between Wan Chai Ferry (then next to Stuart Road and Shau Kei Wan via King's Road, Hong Kong, King's Road and Shau Kei Wan Road, in response to the inauguration of a new ferry route between Wan Chai and Jordan Road Ferry Pier by HYF, and also with the intention of augment the then congesting NWFB Route 2, Route 2. The route became the first route CMB started after the Second World War. On 1 August 1954 CMB started a new route with no number between Shau Kei Wan and Chai Wan to serve the new bungalow development area there. Running between Bow Church and Tottenham Court Road station, it is operated by East London, a subsidiary of Stagecoach London. History On 2 November 1908, the bus route number 8 was allocated to a previously un-numbered route operating between the Bush Hotel in Shepherd's Bush and Seven Kings High Road in Ilford. On 20 June 1912, routes 8 and 25 exchanged eastern ends at Bank, so that from then on route 8 operated between Willesden and Old Ford. This situation continued, apart from various westward extensions of the route to Wembley and Alperton, until 18 July 1992.
