List Of Numbered Brooklyn Streets
This article covers the non-directionally labeled numbered east–west streets in the New York City borough of Brooklyn between and including 1st Street and 101st Street. Most are offset by about 40 degrees from true east–west, that is they run southeast–northwest, but by local convention they are called east–west. With avenues numbered from 1 to 28, they form a street grid. While similar to Manhattan's grid, this Brooklyn grid does not have strict rules of traffic direction based on whether a street number is odd or even. This grid starts with 1st Street in Park Slope south of Garfield Place and ends with 101st Street just north of Shore Road and the Belt Parkway in Bay Ridge. A separate grid of "West" and "East" streets (West 1st through West 37th Streets, and East 1st through East 108th Streets) lies on both sides of Dahill Road and run approximately north–south. IND Culver Line
The IND Culver Line (formerly IND Culver Line#History, BMT Culver Line) is a rapid transit line of the B Division (NYCS), B Division of the New York City Subway, extending from Downtown Brooklyn south to Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York City, United States. The local tracks of the Culver Line are served by the F (New York City Subway service), F service, as well as the G (New York City Subway service), G between Bergen Street (IND Culver Line), Bergen Street and Church Avenue (IND Culver Line), Church Avenue. 50th Street (BMT West End Line)
The 50th Street station is a local station on the BMT West End Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of 50th Street, 12th Avenue and New Utrecht Avenue in Borough Park, Brooklyn. It is served by the D train at all times. The station opened in 1916, and had its platforms extended in the 1960s. History 50th Street station opened on June 24, 1916, along with the first portion of the BMT West End Line from 36th Street on the BMT Fourth Avenue Line to 18th Avenue station. The line was originally a surface excursion railway to Coney Island, called the Brooklyn, Bath and Coney Island Railroad, which was established in 1862, but did not reach Coney Island until 1864. Under the Dual Contracts of 1913, an elevated line was built over New Utrecht Avenue, 86th Street and Stillwell Avenue. B11 (New York City Bus)
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) operates a number of bus routes in Brooklyn, New York, United States; one minor route is privately operated under a city franchise. Many of them are the direct descendants of streetcar lines (see list of streetcar lines in Brooklyn); the ones that started out as bus routes were almost all operated by the Brooklyn Bus Corporation, a subsidiary of the Brooklyn–Manhattan Transit Corporation, until the New York City Board of Transportation took over on June 5, 1940. Of the 55 local Brooklyn routes operated by the New York City Transit Authority, roughly 35 are the direct descendants of one or more streetcar lines, and most of the others were introduced in full or in part as new bus routes by the 1930s. 45th Street (BMT Fourth Avenue Line)
The 45th Street station is a local station on the BMT Fourth Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at 45th Street and Fourth Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, it is served by the R train at all times. The N train also stops here during late nights, and some rush-hour W trains stop here in the peak direction. The 45th Street station was constructed as part of the Fourth Avenue Line, which was approved in 1905. Construction on the segment of the line that includes 45th Street started on March 15, 1913, and was completed in 1915. Sunset Park is a neighborhoods of Brooklyn, neighborhood in the western part of the New York City borough (New York City), borough of Brooklyn, bounded by Park Slope and Green-Wood Cemetery to the north, Borough Park, Brooklyn, Borough Park to the east, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Bay Ridge to the south, and New York Harbor to the west. The neighborhood is named for a Sunset Park (Brooklyn park), public park of the same name that covers between Fifth and Seventh Avenues from 41st to 44th Street. The B70 bus route is a public transit line in Brooklyn in New York City, running mostly on 8th Avenue (Brooklyn), 8th Avenue and 39th Street between Sunset Park and Dyker Heights. The route was originally a streetcar line known as the Eighth Avenue Line, and is currently operated by MTA New York City Bus. The Church Avenue Line is a public transit line in Brooklyn, New York City, running mainly along 39th Street and Church Avenue between Sunset Park and Brownsville. Originally a streetcar line, it is now the B35 bus route, operated by MTA New York City Bus' Jackie Gleason Depot in Sunset Park. Route description The B35 bus route starts at a cut-off lane on 39th Street slightly east of 1st Avenue in Sunset Park, near Industry City and the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal. This terminus is shared with the B70. The B35 and B70 then run east on 39th Street until 3rd Avenue, where the B35 remains on 39th Street and the B70 operates via 3rd Avenue and 36th/37th Streets, serving the 36th Street (BMT Fourth Avenue Line) station. Jackie Gleason Bus Depot
MTA Regional Bus Operations operates local and express buses serving New York City in the United States out of 27 bus depots. These depots are located in all five boroughs of the city, plus one located in nearby Yonkers in Westchester County. 19 of these depots serve MTA New York City Transit (NYCT)'s bus operations, while the remaining eight serve the MTA Bus Company (the successor to private bus operations taken over around 2006.) These facilities perform regular maintenance, cleaning, and painting of buses, as well as collection of revenue from bus fareboxes.
