Guarapari
Guarapari is a coastal town of Espírito Santo, Brazil, a popular tourist destination. Its beach is famous for the high natural radioactivity level of its sand. Geography Location Guarapari is a part of Greater Vitoria, 47 km south of the state capital Vitória, Espírito Santo, Vitória. Its population is 126,701 (2020) and its area is 592 km2. It is a well-known tourist destination, known for its curving white sand beaches backed by commercial development, which extend southward to Nova Guarapari and Meaípe. With its heavily built-up coastline like Vila Velha and Vitória, it caters heavily to seasonal tourists, and consequently has quite a dramatic seasonal population fluctuation. Vila Velha
Vila Velha (; ) is a Brazilian municipality situated on the coast of the state of Espírito Santo, in the Southeast Region of Brazil. It is part of the Greater Vitória Metropolitan Area and covers an area of , of which is within the urban area. According to estimates by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in 2024, its population was inhabitants, making it the second most populous municipality in Espírito Santo, surpassed only by Serra. Founded on 23 May 1535 by the Portuguese Vasco Fernandes Coutinho, the grantee of the Captaincy of Espírito Santo, Vila Velha served as the captaincy’s capital until 1549, when the seat was transferred to Vitória. Viana, Espírito Santo
Viana is a municipality in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. It is located 18 km southwest of Vitória on the road to Minas Gerais. Its population was 79,500 (2020) and its area is 312 km2. Though it is part of the Greater Vitória metropolitan area, it still maintains a much more laid-back feeling. Marked by its first church dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição (built on March 22, 1817) atop a little mound in the middle of the town all those who pass it on their way to and from Minas Gerais appreciate its imposing landmark. Serra, Espírito Santo
Serra () is a municipality in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. Bordering the north of the state's capital, Vitória, the municipality is part of the Greater Vitória metropolitan area. Its population was 520,653 (2022) and its area is 548 km. Serra, the seat of the municipality, is to the north of the characteristic Mestre Álvaro mountain which juts out of the coastal lowlands, and which is said to look like a small mountain range or "serra", in Portuguese, which is where the town and municipality got its name. Cariacica
Cariacica is a municipality in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, part of the Greater Vitória metropolitan area. Geography Cariacica is located 10 km northwest of Vitória, the capital of the state. It has a population of 383,917 (2020) and forms part of the Greater Vitória metropolitan area. The municipality contains the Duas Bocas Biological Reserve, created in 1991 to protect part of the water supply. History Before the arrival of the colonists to this area, Tupiniquim Indians made this area their home. The name "Cariacica" comes from their language, meaning "the arrival of white men". Cariacica was created as a district of Vitória on 18 December 1837. Its full name as it was given by the Catholic Church is "Freguesia de São João Batista de Cariacica", after Saint John the Baptist, the patron saint of the town. Santa Leopoldina, Espírito Santo
Santa Leopoldina is a municipality in central Espírito Santo, Brazil. Its population was 12,885 (2015) and its area is 718.1 km².IBGE /ref> It is 16 meters above sea level, and is located 44 km from the state capital of Vitória, Brazil, Vitória.
