Assabil Libraries
Assabil Association is a non-governmental association founded in Lebanon in 1997 to establish and promote public libraries in the country in order to support democracy. The association has set up four objectives: # Establishing, promoting, and supporting a network of public libraries throughout Lebanon. # Sponsoring cultural and social activities that encourage people to come to the library. # Establishing a training program for librarians and others who work in libraries. # Encouraging the production of books and educational materials in Arabic – especially for children. With three municipal public libraries and one original bus-library concept, Assabil Libraries continue to try to achieve their purpose of creating and providing public libraries for cultural exchange and access to information and books. Lebanese National Library
The Lebanese National Library (Arabic language, Arabic: المكتبة الوطنية, French language, French: ''Bibliothèque nationale du Liban''), located in Beirut, is the national library of Lebanon. It closed to the public in 1979 due to the Lebanese Civil War, and its surviving collections were placed in storage. Restoration of its volumes and planning for a new site began in 1999. History The library was established in 1921, with a donation from Viscount Philippe de Tarrazi of twenty thousand books, many rare manuscripts, and the first issues of national newspapers.. Traveler's Library
The Traveler's Library is a traveling library which, was located in Tripoli, Lebanon.Heritage site in Tripoli under threat' at The Daily Star, Lebanon, 19 October 2012. () It was founded in 1972 by Ibrahim Sarouj and was moved to an Ottoman period building in the centre of Tripoli in 1982. The building is listed as a heritage site, with reports that it was once the city's saray, built on top of an old American school. Sarouj claimed to house over eighty thousand titles including rare works in Aramaic, Greek, and Armenian amongst other languages. In 2012, the building was reportedly subjected to vandalism in connection with plans to demolish and redevelop the property.
