Golden Door Film Festival
The Golden Door Film Festival is a film festival in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States, which was inaugurated in 2011. The four-day festival takes place in fall, and shows features, documentaries, and shorts. The opening and closing night awards ceremony are located at the 1929 movie palace Loew's Jersey Theatre at Journal Square with many screenings and other events at various Downtown venues. The festival was founded by actor, producer, and musician Bill Sorvino. Garden State Film Festival
The Garden State Film Festival is a film festival in the United States held in Asbury Park, New Jersey which debuts more than 200 independent films annually over four days each spring. The festival was founded in 2002 in Sea Girt, New Jersey by Diane Raver and Hollywood actor Robert Pastorelli. Pastorelli and Raver mounted the first festival in 2003. As of 2021, the Executive Director is Lauren Concar Sheehy. The festival pays tribute to Jersey’s legacy as the birthplace of the American filmmaking in Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park laboratories, to Fort Lee, where the studios were founded, and participants frequently include a New Jersey tie. The festival is one of Asbury Park's major cultural and economic forces. In 2021, the festival began including screenings at the century-old Cranford movie theater in Cranford, New Jersey. Cranford is a township in Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, located southwest of Manhattan. The Cranford Theater is an independently owned movie theater in Cranford, New Jersey, United States that has been in operation since 1926. History The Cranford Theater first opened in 1926. With a seating capacity of 1,300, the theater was equipped with an $18,000 Wurlitzer pipe organ with two manual and eight ranks. The inaugural screening featured the silent movie '' Padlocked'' starring Noah Beery, Louise Dresser, and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Initially facing some naming-conflict issues, the theater opened as the New Branford Theatre, but the matter was resolved at the beginning of 1927. The signage was updated, replacing the "B"s with "C"s, and on January 27, 1927, the theater became known as the New Cranford Theatre. Red Bank is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The Count Basie Center for the Arts, originally Count Basie Theatre, is a landmarked performing arts center in Red Bank, New Jersey. The building first opened in 1926 as the Carlton Theater and later, in 1973, became known as the Monmouth Arts Center. In 1984 it was renamed the Count Basie Theatre after famed jazz musician and Red Bank native, William "Count" Basie. In 2018, the venue changed its name to the Count Basie Center for the Arts.
