List Of Fictional Cars
This list of fictional cars contains either cars that are the subject of a notable work of fiction, or else cars that are important elements of a work of fiction. For the purpose of this list, a car is a self-propelled artificial vehicle that runs in contact with the ground and that can be steered. This would include passenger cars, trucks and buses. This list includes vehicles that the characters of the story would regard as being the products of technological development, as opposed to supernatural or magical forces. Cars in fiction may closely resemble real-life counterparts with only minor or unintentional deviations from a real-life namesake; such vehicles may still play an important role in a story. Or, the limitations of real cars may be completely ignored for story purposes; in extreme cases, describing the car is the main point of the story. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (car)
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is the vintage racing car which is featured in the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (novel), book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (film), musical film and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (musical), stage production of the same name. Writer Ian Fleming took his inspiration for the car from a series of aero-engined racing cars built by Louis Zborowski, Count Louis Zborowski in the early 1920s, christened ''Chitty Bang Bang''. The original Chitty Bang Bang's engine was from a Zeppelin dirigible. The name reputedly derived either from the sound it made whilst idling, or from a bawdy song from World WarI. Six versions of the car were built for the film and several replicas have subsequently been produced. The version built for the stage production holds the record for the most expensive stage prop ever used. Bluesmobile
The Bluesmobile is a 1974 Dodge Monaco sedan that was prominently featured in the 1980 Universal Pictures film '' The Blues Brothers''. The car is described as a decommissioned Mount Prospect police car, purchased by Elwood Blues at an auction after he had traded a previous car (a 1968 Cadillac Sixty Special) for a microphone. The Bluesmobile is equipped with a "440 Magnum" engine and squad car package, an option offered by Dodge for the Monaco in 1974. It bears an Illinois license plate reading "BDR 529", a tribute to the Black Diamond Riders motorcycle club of Toronto, Canada. Dan Aykroyd, co-writer of the film, stated that he chose the 440 Dodge Monaco because he considered it to be the hottest car used by police during the 1970s.
