Winifred McNair
Winifred McNair (née Winifred Margaret Slocock, 9 August 1877 – 28 March 1954) was a tennis player from Great Britain. She is best remembered for her women's doubles (partnering Kathleen McKane) gold medal at the 1920 Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium. Between 1906 and 1925 she competed in 15 editions of the Wimbledon Championships. Her best Wimbledon result came in 1913 when she reached the final of the all-comers' event and won the doubles title, partnering Dora Boothby. She married Roderick McNair on 22 April 1908. Irene Bowder Peacock
Irene Evelyn Bowder Peacock (née Bowder; 27 July 1892 – 13 June 1978) was a South African tennis player. Bowder Peacock won the doubles title at the 1927 French Championships with Bobbie Heine Miller defeating Peggy Saunders and Phoebe Holcroft Watson in two straight sets. That same tournament she also reached the final of the singles competition which she lost in straight sets to Kea Bouman of the Netherlands. She won the British Indian Championships singles title from 1915 to 1920, the South of England Championships singles title in 1922, and the South African Championships singles title from 1924 to 1926. At the World Covered Court Championships in 1920 she was a finalist in the doubles and, partnering Francis Fisher, won the mixed doubles title after a walkover in the final against Stanley Doust and Kathleen McKane Godfree. Winifred Geraldine Ramsey Beamish (''née'' Ramsey; 23 June 1883 – 10 May 1972) was an English tennis player who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics. Biography Winifred Geraldine Ramsey was born on 23 June 1883 at Forest Gate, London. She married tennis player Alfred Beamish on 30 September 1911. She competed at The Championships, Wimbledon from 1910 throughout 1933 in each year the tournament was held, reaching the semifinals three times in 1919, 1922 and 1923. In 1919 she lost to Phyllis Satterthwaite, in 1922, she lost to Molla Mallory and the following year to Suzanne Lenglen. In 1920 she won the silver medal in the Olympics doubles competition with her partner Dorothy Holman. Suzanne Lenglen
Suzanne Rachel Flore Lenglen (; 24 May 1899 – 4 July 1938) was a French tennis player. She was the inaugural world No. 1 from 1921 to 1926, winning eight Grand Slam titles in singles and twenty-one in total. She was also a four-time World Hard Court Champion in singles, and ten times in total. Lenglen won six Wimbledon singles titles, including five in a row from 1919 to 1923, and was the champion in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles at the first two open French Championships in 1925 and 1926. In doubles, she was undefeated with her usual partner Elizabeth Ryan, highlighted by another six titles at Wimbledon. Ethel Thomson Larcombe
Ethel Larcombe (née Ethel Warneford Thomson, 8 June 1879 – 11 August 1965) was a British female tennis player and badminton player. She won the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1912 Wimbledon Championships as well as 11 badminton titles at the All England Badminton Championships. Career Ethel was born 8 June 1879 as the second child of Herbert Warneford Thomson, surgeon, and his wife, Sophia Charlotte Bond. Her older brother Hugh was born in 1878. She first competed at Wimbledon in 1902 when she lost in the first round to Agnes Morton. The following year, 1903, she reached the final of the All-Comers tournament in which she was defeated by Dorothea Douglass in three sets. Larcombe did not play competitive tennis for four years from 1907 until her return in 1911. Edith Margaret Hannam (''née'' Boucher; 28 November 1878 – 16 January 1951) was a female tennis player from Great Britain. She played at the 1912 Summer Olympics and won two gold medals. Family life Edith Margaret Boucher was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire on 28 November 1878, the daughter of John and Julia Boucher, her father was a pharmaceutical chemist. Boucher married Francis John Hannam at Long Ashton in 1909, as a Captain in the Gloucestershire Regiment he was killed in action in France on 5 July 1916. Agnes Morton (6 March 1872 – 5 April 1952) was a British female tennis player. She twice reached the Ladies Singles finals at the 1908 and 1909 Wimbledon Championships and claimed victory in 1914 in Ladies Doubles with partner Elizabeth Ryan.
