The UEFA, Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is the sport governing body, governing body for association football in Europe. It organises four club competitions: the UEFA Champions League (formerly European Cup), the UEFA Europa League (formerly UEFA Cup), the UEFA Conference League (formerly UEFA Europa Conference League), and the UEFA Super Cup. UEFA was also responsible for the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Intertoto Cup, Intertoto Cup until their discontinuation in 1999 and 2008, respectively. The UEFA Plaque was an honorific award given by the UEFA, Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to clubs that had UEFA club competition records and statistics#List of teams to have won the main European club competitions, won, at least once, the title in each of the three major international competitions organised by the confederation in the 20th century, namely the UEFA Champions League, European Champions Cup, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Europa League, UEFA Cup. Unione Calcio Sampdoria, commonly referred to as Sampdoria (), is an Italian professional Football club (association football), football club based in Genoa, Liguria. 1989–90 European Cup
The 1989–90 European Cup was the 35th edition of Europe's premier club football tournament, the European Cup. The final was played at the Praterstadion in Vienna on 23 May 1990. The final was contested by Italian defending champions Milan and Portuguese twice former winners Benfica. Milan successfully defended their title with a 1–0 victory, securing their fourth European Cup trophy. Milan remained the last team to successfully defend their trophy until Real Madrid did it again in 2017. Arsenal were denied a place in the competition, as this was the last year of a ban from European competitions for English clubs following the Heysel Stadium disaster of 1985. 2024–25 UEFA Conference League
The 2024–25 UEFA Conference League was the fourth season of the UEFA Conference League, Europe's tertiary club football tournament organised by UEFA. From this season, the competition was renamed from the UEFA Europa Conference League to the UEFA Conference League. This was also the first edition of the tournament played under a new format involving a 36-team league phase. This increased the total number of matches played in the competition proper from 141 to 153. The new format also did not allow teams to transfer from the Europa League league or knockout phase to the Conference League knockout phase, and thus Conference League winners ( Olympiacos in the 2023–24 edition) could no longer defend their title as the winner of the Conference League automatically qualified for the Europa League league phase. The 1985 Intercontinental Cup was an Association football match played on 8 December 1985, between Juventus, winners of the 1984–85 European Cup, and Argentinos Juniors, winners of the 1985 Copa Libertadores. 1984 European Super Cup
The 1984 European Super Cup was an association football match between Italian team Juventus and English team Liverpool, which took place on 16 January 1985 at the Stadio Comunale. The match was the annual European Super Cup contested between the winners of the European Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup.
