''The Strain'' is an American horror fiction, horror Drama (film and television), drama television series that aired on FX (TV channel), FX from July 13, 2014, to September 17, 2017. It was created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, based on their novel trilogy The Strain, of the same name. Carlton Cuse served as executive producer and showrunner. Del Toro and Hogan wrote the pilot episode, "Night Zero (The Strain), Night Zero", which del Toro directed. A thirteen-episode first season was ordered on November 19, 2013. The pilot episode premiered at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, in early June 2014. On August 6, 2014, FX renewed ''The Strain'' for a 13-episode second season which premiered on July 12, 2015. On August 7, 2015, FX renewed ''The Strain'' for a 10-episode third season which premiered on August 28, 2016. Charlotte Sieling
Charlotte Sieling (born 13 July 1960) is a Danish actress and film director. She began her career as an actress in the mid-1980s. In the 2000s, she turned to film directing, working on a number of successful DR TV series such as the Emmy-winning ''Unit One'', '' The Killing'', '' The Bridge'' and the BAFTA-winning '' Borgen''. She had her feature film debut with ''Above the Street, Below the Water'' in 2009. Luchador films (or ''Lucha Libre films'') are Mexican professional wrestling/ action/science-fiction/ horror films starring some of the most popular masked luchadores in Lucha Libre. The luchadores are portrayed as superheroes engaging in battles against a range of characters from spies, to vampires and Martians. These films were low-budget and produced quickly.
