2023 Polish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Poland on 15 October 2023 to elect members of the Sejm and Senate of Poland, Senate. A 2023 Polish referendum, referendum containing four questions concerning economic and immigration policy of the government was held simultaneously. In the previous 2019 Polish parliamentary election, the ruling right-wing Law and Justice (Poland), Law and Justice Party (PiS) had held onto its majority in the Sejm with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki forming Second Cabinet of Mateusz Morawiecki, a second government. The PiS sought to win a third term which would be unprecedented in Polish history. The opposition, including the Civic Platform, Civic Platform Party and others, secured a Senate majority. (, meaning 'Together Party') is a left-wing political party in Poland. It was founded in 2015, and from 2019 to 2024 the party's official name was (, 'Left Together'). The party was one of the eight nationwide committees standing in the 2015 parliamentary election. Party co-leaders are Adrian Zandberg and Aleksandra Owca, elected at the end of November and beginning of December 2024, following a split in the party in October. It supports principles of social democracy, democratic socialism, and social liberalism, and has expressed progressive views. The party is critical of the historical post-communist Democratic Left Alliance. Wirtualna Polska (WP ) (lit. Virtual Poland) is a group of companies operating in the media and e-commerce sectors. The WP Group owns the Wirtualna Polska horizontal portal founded in 1995 and known for being the first internet portal in Poland. Onet.pl is the largest Polish-language web portal and online news platform. According to Digital News Report, it is the largest online news source in the country, reaching 42% Internet users every week. It is also one of the most-quoted news media in Poland. TVN S.A. (trade name: Grupa TVN) is a Polish media and entertainment group established in 1995 as ''TVN Sp. z o.o''. The CEO of TVN Group is Katarzyna "Kasia" Kieli, president and managing director of TVN Warner Bros. Discovery. Its TV channel, TVN, is their flagship. TVN24
TVN24 is a Polish 24-hour commercial news channel, launched on 9 August 2001. Being a part of the TVN Network, TVN24 has been owned since 2018 by US-based media company Warner Bros. Discovery ( Discovery, Inc. before 2022). It gained broader popularity after the September 11, 2001 attacks in the US, which was the first major incident to be covered by TVN24. It is available over all digital platforms in Poland ( Polsat Box and Platforma Canal+) as well as in most cable networks and some networks in other countries, including USA ( Dish Network) and Germany. Third Way (Poland)
The Third Way (, TD) is a political alliance in Poland that was formed on 27 April 2023, before the 2023 parliamentary election. The coalition's aim is to provide an alternative to both Law and Justice and Civic Platform, the dominant political parties in Poland since the 2000s. The coalition was created by centrist Poland 2050 of Szymon Hołownia and the conservative Polish People's Party, which leads the centre-right Polish Coalition. Włodzimierz Skalik
Włodzimierz Skalik (born 10 June 1959) is a Polish politician, businessman and pilot who serves as a member of the 10th term Sejm. Early life and education Skalik was born in Radomsko. He studied at the National Defense University of Warsaw. Skalik began his aviation training at the Częstochowa Aero Club (a regional branch of the Polish Aero Club) in 1975. In March 2010, he was elected president of the Polish Aero Club, a position he held until March 2018. Also in 2010, Skalik became one of the vice-presidents of the World Air Sports Federation (FAI). Marek Jakubiak (born 30 April 1959) is a Polish politician and brewer, who has served as President of WR since 2024. He has also served as Secretary-General of Kukiz'15 since 2023.
