Punjabi cinema, also known as Pollywood or Punjwood, is cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Punjabi language, Punjabi-language widely spoken in the Indian state of Punjab, India, Punjab. It is based in Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Mohali. The cinema of Punjab has its beginnings with the 1928 production of ''Daughters of Today (1928 film), Daughters of Today'', the earliest feature film produced in the region in Lahore. ''Subedar Joginder Singh'' is a 2018 Indian Punjabi-language biographical war film based on the life of Joginder Singh, an Indian soldier who fought in the 1962 Sino-Indian War and was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
