The list of New Brunswick by-elections includes every by-election held in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. By-elections occur whenever there is a vacancy in the Legislative Assembly, although an imminent general election may allow the vacancy to remain until the dissolution of parliament. Between 1842 and 1927 incumbent members were required to recontest their seats upon being appointed to Cabinet. David Alward
David Nathan Alward (born December 2, 1959) is a Canadian politician, who served as the 32nd premier of New Brunswick, 2010 to 2014. Alward has been a member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick since 1999 and has been the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick. His party was defeated on September 22, 2014, and Alward resigned as Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick leader on September 23, 2014. On April 24, 2015, Alward was named Canadian consul general in Boston. Early life Alward was born in Beverly, Massachusetts. Burt Paulin
Burt Paulin (born August 13, 1955) is a Canadian politician in New Brunswick. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Paulin's family moved to Saint-Jean-Baptiste-de-Restigouche when he was four months old. He married Carolle Mallais. Burt Paulin was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 2003 to represent the electoral district of Restigouche West. In early 2006, electoral boundaries were redrawn and Paulin's district was merged with Madawaska-la-Vallée to form Restigouche-la-Vallée. Percy Mockler
Percy Paul Mockler (born April 14, 1949 in St. Leonard, New Brunswick) is a Canadian politician serving as a Canadian Senator from New Brunswick since 2009. A member of the Conservative Party of Canada, Mockler previously served two non-consecutive stints in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1982 to 1987, and again from 1993 to 2008. Biography He studied at the University of Moncton where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology and a Master of Business Administration degree. A member of the Progressive Conservative Party, was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 1982 election. Restigouche-La-Vallée
Restigouche-La-Vallée was a provincial electoral district in New Brunswick, Canada. It was created in 2006 as a result of a merger of the old district of Madawaska-la-Vallée with the district of Restigouche West, less small portions on the extreme edges of both districts. History The district was first used in the 2006 provincial general election and featured a battle of incumbents. Percy Mockler, the Progressive Conservative MLA from Madawaska-la-Vallée defeated Burt Paulin, the Liberal MLA from Restigouche West. On December 18, 2008, Percy Mockler was appointed to the Senate of Canada on the advice of Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper. As a result, a by-election was to be called no later than May 2009. Ted Flemming (politician)
Hugh John Alexander "Ted" Flemming (born June 13, 1954) is a Canadian politician, currently serving as MLA for the electoral district of Rothesay in New Brunswick. Flemming was elected to the legislature in a by-election on June 25, 2012. Flemming graduated from the University of New Brunswick law school in 1978 and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1992. He has served on the board of directors of the New Brunswick Securities Commission, the Saint John Port Authority and the Business Development Bank of Canada. He is not an actively practicing lawyer. Rothesay (electoral District)
Rothesay is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. The riding consists of the Town of Rothesay and its surroundings. The district was created in 1994 as Saint John-Kings out of parts of Saint John County, Kings County and a small portion of the eastern edge of the City of Saint John all in and around the Town of Rothesay, a bedroom community of Saint John. Brian Gallant
Brian Alexander Gallant (born April 27, 1982) is a Canadian politician who served as the 33rd premier of New Brunswick from October 7, 2014, until November 9, 2018. Of Acadian and Dutch descent, Gallant practised as a lawyer before winning the Liberal leadership in October 2012, securing the riding of Kent in a by-election on April 15, 2013, shortly followed by his swearing in as Leader of the Opposition. Shawn Michael Graham (born February 22, 1968) is a Canadian politician, who served as the 31st premier of New Brunswick from 2006 to 2010. Glen Louis Savoie is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2010 provincial election. He represented the electoral district of Saint John-Fundy as a member of the Progressive Conservatives until the 2014 provincial election on September 22, 2014, when he was defeated by Gary Keating in the redistributed riding of Saint John East.
