List Of Monica And Friends Characters
This is a list of characters from the Monica's Gang franchise, created by Brazilian cartoonist Maurício de Sousa. Note that only characters from the main series are detailed here. For characters from related publications, check the navigation box at the bottom of this page. In 2011, in an internet chatroom, Maurício revealed that the character's neighborhood was inspired on the neighborhood of Cambuí, in the city of Campinas, where he lived for a few years. It's a place with lots of plants and trees, a soccer field (where the boys play), a garbage dumpster which Smudge used to play in (not anymore, due to the political correctness of recent editions), and little to no asphalt. Before Monica's debut in 1963, Maurício's initial characters were all male. After being accused of misogyny, he began creating his first female characters which were inspired by some of his own daughters. Monica's Gang
''Monica and Friends'' (), previously published as ''Monica's Gang'' in Anglophone territories and as ''Frizz and Friends'' in London, is a Brazilian comic book series and media franchise created by Mauricio de Sousa. The series originated in a comic strip first published by the newspaper Folha da Manhã in 1959, in which the protagonists were Blu (comic strip character), Blu (''Bidu'') and List of Monica's Gang characters#Minor characters, Franklin (''Franjinha''), however, in the following years the series was shaped towards its current identity with the introduction of new characters such as Monica (Monica's Gang), Monica (''Mônica'') and Jimmy Five (''Cebolinha'') who became the new protagonists. ''The Princess and the Robot'' () is a 1984 Brazilian animated film based on the ''Monica's Gang'' comic books. It was the second film based on ''Monica's Gang'' and the first to present an original story, since the other movies are just episodes of the cartoon, until the movie Uma Aventura no Tempo of 2007. Plot In a small heart-shaped planet, there is a pulsating star that ends up shooting through space and lands on another planet, called Carrotland (Cenourano, in the original), striking a robot that is passionate about the princess of the kingdom where he lives: Princess Mimi. The Star of Bethlehem, or Christmas Star, appears in the nativity of Jesus, nativity story of the Gospel of Matthew Matthew 2, chapter 2 where "wise men from the East" (biblical Magi, Magi) are inspired by the star to travel to Jerusalem. There, they meet King Herod the Great, Herod of Judea, and ask him: Herod calls together his scribes and priests who, quoting Micah 5#Verse 2, a verse from the Book of Micah, interpret it as a prophecy that the Messiah in Judaism, Jewish Messiah would be born in Bethlehem to the south of Jerusalem. Secretly intending to find and kill the Messiah in order to preserve his own kingship, Herod invites the wise men to return to him on their way home. ''Monica Adventures'' ( Portuguese: ''Turma da Mônica Jovem'', lit. "Mônica's Gang Teen") is a Brazilian comic created in August 2008 by Mauricio de Sousa. It is a reinterpretation of the characters from '' Monica and Friends'' in teenage versions, in features and language that refer to Japanese manga and stories that seek to engage with a teen audience. In January 2019, the series began to be published in the United States by the publisher Papercutz. A spin-off based on Chuck Billy 'n' Folks titled ''Chico Bento Moço'' was published between 2013 and 2021 with the story running parallel to Monica Adventures.
