The following is a list of members of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand members of Parliament (MPs). The Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand was founded in 1990. It first won parliamentary representation in 1996 New Zealand general election, 1996 as a member party of the Alliance (New Zealand political party), Alliance. Two of the three Green MPs elected that year split from the Alliance in 1997 and the Greens have retained a presence in the New Zealand House of Representatives continuously until the present day. Green Party Of Aotearoa New Zealand
The Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand ( mi, Rōpū Kākāriki o Aotearoa, Niu Tireni), commonly known as the Greens, is a green and left-wing political party in New Zealand. Like many green parties around the world, it has four organisational pillars ( ecological wisdom, social justice, grassroots democracy, and nonviolence). The party's ideology combines environmentalism with left-wing and social-democratic economic policies, including well-funded and locally controlled public services within the confines of a steady-state economy. Internationally, it is affiliated with the Global Greens. The Green Party traces its origins to the Values Party, founded in 1972 as the world's first national-level environmentalist party. Kennedy Graham
Kennedy Gollan Montrose Graham (born 1946) is a New Zealand politician and former Member of Parliament for the Green Party. He has served in the New Zealand Foreign Service for sixteen years, and lectured at the University of Canterbury and Victoria University of Wellington. He is the brother of Sir Douglas Graham, a former National Party MP (1984–1999) and cabinet minister (1990–1999). He is also a great-grandson of Robert Graham, an MP from 1855 to 1868. Barry Coates
Robert Barry Hobson Coates (born 18 October 1956) is a New Zealand politician who was a member of the New Zealand House of Representatives as a representative of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand. Environmental career Coates worked for the government of Samoa from 1978 to 1980, promoting the development of small business. He has a bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland and a Masters in Public and Private Management from the Yale School of Management. Coates worked at World Wide Fund for Nature WWF-UK from 1991, until 1996. Marama Davidson
Marama Mere-Ana Davidson (née Paratene; born 1973) is a New Zealand politician who entered the New Zealand Parliament in 2015 as a representative of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, of which she is the female co-leader. In October 2020, the Green Party signed a cooperation agreement to support a Labour-led government. Davidson became the Minister outside Cabinet for the Prevention of Family and Sexual Violence, as well as holding the Associate Housing portfolio. Denise Maree Roche (born 9 July 1963) is a New Zealand politician. She was a member of the Waiheke Local Board and the New Zealand House of Representatives, where she represented the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand from 2011 to 2017. Early life Roche was born in 1963 in Helensville, the eighth child of nine and the youngest daughter in her family. Roche is of Ngāti Huri and Scottish descent. Heather Janet Logie (born 26 October 1969) is a New Zealand politician and a member of the New Zealand House of Representatives. She is a member of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand.
