''Emmerdale'' is a British soap opera first broadcast on 16 October 1972. The following is a list of characters that debuted during 2021, by order of first appearance. All characters are introduced by the soap's executive producer, Jane Hudson. Ethan Anderson (Emile John) is introduced in January as the son of vicar Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin). Frankie Robinson is then born in February. In August, Rob Jarvis joined the cast as Wendy Posner's (Susan Cookson) ex-husband Russell, later followed by Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland), the sister of Sarah Sugden's (Katie Hill) heart donor. Ben Richards then joined the cast in November as loan shark Gavin. He was followed by Carol Butler (Laura Pitt-Pulford) in December, who was introduced as the sister of one of Meena Jutla's (Paige Sandhu) victims. ''Emmerdale'' (known as ''Emmerdale Farm'' until 1989) is a British television soap opera that is broadcast on ITV (TV network), ITV. The show is set in Emmerdale (known as Beckindale until 1994), a List of fictional towns and villages, fictional village in the Yorkshire Dales. Created by Kevin Laffan, ''Emmerdale Farm'' was first broadcast on 16 October 1972. Interior scenes have been filmed at the Leeds Studios since its inception. Exterior scenes were first filmed in Arncliffe, North Yorkshire, Arncliffe in Littondale, and the series may have taken its name from Amerdale, an ancient name of Littondale. She became the fifth actress to take over the role of Sarah Sugden in the ITV1 soap opera ''Emmerdale'' in 2017, a role she has portrayed since. Life and career Katie Hill was born on 8 March 2003 in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Naomi Walters
Naomi Walters is a fictional character from the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Karene Peter.
