List Of Dream Champions
This is a list of champions in the Dream organization at each weight class. Dream (mixed martial arts), Dream was a Japanese mixed martial arts organization, originally promoted by Fighting and Entertainment Group, and over management of Glory (kickboxing), Glory Sports International since October 2012. The first two champions were crowned after the 2008 Lightweight and Middleweight Grand Prix, while the 2009 Welterweight and Featherweight GPs have crowned the champions at those weights. The 2010 Light Heavyweight Grand Prix crowned the first Dream Light Heavyweight Champion at Dream 16. The 2011 World Bantamweight Grand Prix crowned the first ever Dream Bantamweight Champion at Dynamite!!! 2011. Dream 13
''Dream 13'' was a mixed martial arts event held by Fighting and Entertainment Group's mixed martial arts promotion Dream (mixed martial arts), Dream. The event took place on Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan. The event aired live in North America on HDNet. Background This event marked the beginning of co-promotion between DREAM and US organization Strikeforce (mixed martial arts), Strikeforce. The event would also mark the return of K. J. Noons to Mixed Martial Arts in his first fight since EliteXC: Return of the King, 2008. While not officially announced, Tim Sylvia was planning on participating in this event. However, Dream officials allegedly tried to change his opponent roughly two weeks before the bout was planned to take place. Dream 16
''Dream 16'' was a mixed martial arts event held by Fighting and Entertainment Group's mixed martial arts promotion Dream. The event took place on September 25, 2010, in Nagoya, Japan. The event aired live in North America on HDNet. Background This event served as the final for Dream's Light Heavyweight Grand Prix and crowned the first Dream Light Heavyweight Champion. Gegard Mousasi and Tatsuya Mizuno who won their opening round bouts at Dream 15 fought for the title. A previously announced featherweight bout with Joe Warren fighting Michihiro Omigawa has been scrapped from this card. Ikuhisa Minowa was previously reported to be fighting James Thompson, but instead fought Judo Olympic Gold Medalist Satoshi Ishii. Thompson's last minute opponent ending up being Deep Megaton Champion Yusuke Kawaguchi. ''Dream 6: Middle Weight Grandprix 2008 Final Round'' was a mixed martial arts event promoted by Fighting and Entertainment Group's mixed martial arts promotion Dream on September 23, 2008. The event hosted the crowning of Dream's first Middleweight Champion, Gegard Mousasi, after the conclusion of the Middleweight Grand Prix. Background A bout between Ronaldo Souza and Frank Trigg was announced for the Middleweight Grand Prix. Trigg would subsequently announce that a visa wasn't secured and the bout between the two wasn't finalized. Trigg was replaced by National university freestyle wrestling champion Ian Murphy. Satoru Kitaoka
, is a Japanese shoot wrestler and mixed martial artist who most recently competed for RIZIN. A professional competitor since 2000, he has also competed for DREAM, Pancrase, DEEP, and World Victory Road. Kitaoka is renowned for his catch wrestling abilities which he learned studying under two of Japan's most respected catch wrestlers Masakatsu Funaki and Minoru Suzuki. He is also a Brazilian jiu jitsu blackbelt under Yuki Nakai. A master of the guillotine choke and leg lock submissions, Kitaoka holds notable wins over Takanori Gomi, Paul Daley, and Carlos Condit. The event took place on July 10, 2010 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Saitama, Saitama, Japan. The event aired live in North America on HDNet. Joachim Hansen (fighter)
Joachim B. Hansen (born 26 May 1979) is a Norwegian retired mixed martial artist. He began his career fighting for FinnFight before moving on to fight for Shooto where he became the first Scandinavian person to hold an MMA world title after winning the Shooto World Lightweight Championship in 2003 from Takanori Gomi. Hansen later fought for the Pride Fighting Championship and most recently Dream where he became the Dream Lightweight Champion.
