The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) is the governing body and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of football in the nation, both professional and amateur. The national and club teams are governed by UEFA in Europe and FIFA in global competitions. Hrvatski Nogometni klub Hajduk Split, commonly referred to as Hajduk Split (), is a Croatian professional Association football, football Football team, club based in Split, Croatia, Split, that competes in the Croatian First Football League, Croatian First League, the top tier in Croatian football. NK Opatija is a Croatian association football club. It is based in Opatija and was founded in 1911, making it one of the oldest football clubs in Croatia. The team competes in the 1. NL, the second tier of the Croatian football league system. History The beginnings of organized football in Opatija date back to 1911, when the Opatija branch of the Croatian Sokol movement's football section was founded, under the name of "''Football Section of the Croatian Sokol - Opatija-Volosko''". NK Marsonia is a Croatian football club based in the city of Slavonski Brod. They currently play in the third division Treća HNL. NK Marsonia was founded in 1909. From 1945 to 1962 the club was called ''NK Radnički Brod'', and then ''BSK'' from 1962 to 1992 before the club's original name was restored. NK Marsonia last played in the top flight 1.HNL in 2004, finishing last and suffering relegation. NK Čakovec
Nogometni Klub Čakovec (), commonly referred to as NK Čakovec or simply Čakovec, was a Croatian football club based in Čakovec, in the northern part of the country. The club folded in 2011. The club's arguably biggest success came when they won promotion to the Croatian First League in 2000. However, they only spent two seasons in the top flight before being relegated back to the Croatian Second League in 2002. In 2007, they finished bottom of the Croatian Second League and were relegated to the Croatian Third League, going on to end up playing in the fourth tier of Croatian football following another relegation in 2008. The club was played their home matches at the Stadion SRC Mladost, Čakovec, which has been their home ground since 1987 and can hold approximately 8,000 people. Radnički nogometni klub Split ("Workers' Football Club of Split") commonly known as RNK Split, is a Croatian professional football club based in the city of Split. History The club had a strong fanbase in the Split's shipyard. The club was founded on 16 April 1912 as Anarch, but has had several names like Borac, Jug, HAŠK, Dalmatinac, and Arsenal since then. During the Spanish Civil War, RNK Split organized an unsuccessful expedition of his volunteers for the fight on the side of the anti-fascist coalition against Francisco Franco's forces. In World War II, the club became well known because 120 of its players were killed fighting on the side of Josip Broz Tito's Partisans, fighting against Axis forces.
