List Of Chairmen Of The Estonian Provincial Assembly
This is a list of members of the Provincial Assembly of Estonia. On 12 April 1917, a decree issued by the Provisional Government in Russia created the autonomous Governorate of Estonia with its own Governor and a Provincial Assembly (or Council; ''Maanõukogu'', but commonly known as the ''Maapäev'') to be composed of elected members. The elections took place on 5 June 1917, and the Assembly convened on 14 July. On 28 November, it declared its laws sovereign over Estonia and moved to create a Constituent Assembly; once that was established and its members elected, the Provisional Assembly ceased to exist and its session ended on 23 April 1919. Herman Kask
Herman Kask (died 1918), also known as Hermann Kask, was an Estonian surveyor and politician. Kask was elected to the Estonian Provincial Assembly, which governed the Autonomous Governorate of Estonia between 1917 and 1919; he was the Assembly's Second Assistant Secretary between 27 July 1917 and 25 October 17, when he was appointed full Secretary. Karl Theodor Grau
Karl Theodor Grau (1884–1952) was an Estonian lawyer and politician. Grau was born on 31 October 1884 in Soosaare Parish (now Viljandi Parish) in Kreis Fellin and practised as a lawyer. He was elected to the Estonian Provincial Assembly, which governed the Autonomous Governorate of Estonia between 1917 and 1919; he served for the whole term, but did not sit in the newly formed Republic of Estonia's Asutav Kogu (Constituent Assembly) or the Riigikogu. Aleksander Ennemuist
Aleksander Ennemuist (1890–1975) was an Estonian lawyer, educator and politician. Ennemuist was born on 23 January 1890 in Lõve (now Tõrva Parish) in Kreis Fellin, Governorate of Livonia and practiced as a lawyer. He was elected to the Estonian Provincial Assembly, which governed the Autonomous Governorate of Estonia between 1917 and 1919; he served for the whole term, but did not sit in the newly formed Republic of Estonia's Asutav Kogu (Constituent Assembly) or the Riigikogu. Max Woldemar Gustav Eduard Bock (4 April 1885 – 29 April 1948) was a Baltic German politician and lawyer prominent in Estonia. Bock was born in Reval (later named Tallinn) on 4 April 1885 to Julius Bock, a medical doctor, and his wife Alice, ''née'' Kampf. He attended the Nikolai Gymnasium in Reval, studying medicine between 1905 and 1908, then law until 1910, working as a private tutor in the meantime. Christjan Arro
Christian Arro (also known as Christjan Arro and Kristjan Arro; 25 January 1885 – 21 April 1942) was an Estonian agriculturist, farmer and politician. Born in the village of Polli on 25 January 1885, Arro was an agriculturist and farmer. He was also active in politics, and sat on the Estonian Provincial Assembly (which governed the Autonomous Governorate of Estonia) for the entirety of its only session (1917–19). He did not sit on the Constituent Assembly, but was elected to the first and second legislatures of the Riigikogu in 1920 and 1923, respectively. Alma Rosalie Ostra-Oinas (born Alma Ostra, also known as Alma Anvelt-Ostra; 4 or 16 September 1886 – 2 November 1960) was an Estonian journalist, writer and politician. Jaan Anvelt
Jaan Anvelt (also known by the pseudonyms Eessaare Aadu, Jaan Holm, Jaan Hulmu, Kaarel Maatamees, Onkel Kaak; in Russian or ; 18 April 1884 – 11 December 1937), was an Estonian Bolshevik revolutionary and writer. Juhan Mihkel Ainson
Juhan Mihkel Ainson (1 July 1873 – 1962), also known as Johan Mihkel Ainson, was an Estonian politician. Born in the village of Holstre on 1 July 1873, Ainson was a doctor and practised as a veterinary scientist. He was a member of the Provincial Assembly which governed the Autonomous Governorate of Estonia between 1917 and 1919. After the Estonian War of Independence allowed Estonia to set up its own constitution, he sat on the Constituent Assembly which drafted it. He was a member from the start of the session on 23 April 1919 until he stepped down on 18 December 1919; Juhan Ostrat replaced him. Jüri Parik
Jüri Parik (1889–1929) was an Estonian lawyer and politician. Born on 16 April 1889 in Uue-Võidu Parish (now Viljandi Parish) in Kreis Fellin of the Governorate of Livonia, Parik was a member of the Estonian Provincial Assembly which governed the Autonomous Governorate of Estonia between 1917 and 1919. He joined the assembly on 26 November 1918, replacing Eduard Aule who had resigned. He served until the end of the session and was the First Assistant Secretary to the Assembly between 3 February 1919 and 23 April 1919. Parik did not participate in the independent Republic of Estonia's Asutav Kogu (Constitutional Assembly) which followed, but he was elected to the first session of the Riigikogu (Estonian Parliament) as a representative of the Farmers' Assemblies party.
