Azra Aksamija
Azra Akšamija is a Bosnian-Austrian artist and architectural historian. Her work focuses on the role of cultural and religious identity in conflicts, especially in the recent history of the Bosnian War and its aftermath. Akšamija is currently a professor at the Art, Culture and Technology program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Artwork Wearable Mosques A series of Akšamija's projects translate the codes of religious architecture into clothing and contextualize them into a specific cultural setting. Aksamija argues that the concept of the mosque transcends architectural styles and typologies and can be even extended to clothing. Nela Hasanbegović
Nela Hasanbegović (born 21 January 1984) is a Bosnian sculptor. She graduated from the High School of High Arts in Sarajevo in the Department of Sculpting in 2002. She then graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 2007. She is a member of the Association of Visual Artists of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2007. Since 2011, she is a member of the Association of Culture and Red Arts. Šejla Kamerić (born 1976) is a Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnian Visual arts, visual artist. Early life and education Šejla Kamerić was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a child she lived in Dubai, where her father worked for several years as a volleyball coach. Her family returned to Sarajevo in the wake of the Yugoslav Wars, Yugoslav wars. When the Bosnian War, war in Bosnia and Herzegovina started, Šejla Kamerić was 16 years old and had begun a career as a model for local and international fashion magazines and brands. She continued her modeling career during the early years of the war. Helena Klakočar (born 1958) is a Croatian artist alternative cartoonist known for her autobiographical, social, and political observations. Life and work Helena Klakočar was born in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, into an ethnic Croat family. When she was seven years old her family moved to Maribor, Slovenia, where she attended primary and grammar school. She studied graphic art at the Art Academy in Zagreb, Croatia and became successful as a comics author, designer of posters and animation films. In summer 1991 she went on a sailing holiday with her husband and two-year-old daughter. Their return from Greece was prolonged because of the outburst of the war in Former Yugoslavia. Maya Kulenovic is a Canadian artist working in Painting and Sculpture. She lives and works in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and exhibits internationally. Biography Kulenovic was born in 1975 in Sarajevo, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia. She studied at Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul, Turkey; and Chelsea College of Art and Design (University of the Arts London) in London, England. Ksenia Milicevic (born September 15, 1942) is a French painter, architect and town planner. She is based in Paris, with a studio in Bateau-Lavoir in Montmartre and also maintains a base in South West France. Life Ksenia Milicevic was born in 1942 in Drinici, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her mother was born in Lackawanna, New York and her father in Montenegro. Both were partisans engaged in guerrilla campaigns during the Second World War. Following the Fourth anti-Partisan Offensive from January to April 1943 and the Fifth, May to June 1943, in south-eastern Bosnia and northern Montenegro, she was left with her grandparents in Montenegro.
