List Of African Stadiums By Capacity
The following is a list of sports stadiums in Africa. They are in order by their capacity, that is the maximum number of spectators the stadium can accommodate. Most large stadiums in Africa are used for football (soccer), with some also used for athletics and rugby union. African stadiums with a capacity of 30,000 or more are included. Soccer City in Johannesburg is currently the largest stadium in Africa since its capacity was increased to 94,700 for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This event, which took place in June–July, was the first time an African country has hosted the World Cup. The Olympic Games have never been staged in Africa. A stadium (: stadiums or stadia) is a place or venue for (mostly) outdoor sports, concerts, or other events and consists of a field or stage completely or partially surrounded by a tiered structure designed to allow spectators to stand or sit and view the event. Association sportive des Forces armées royales (, ), abbreviated as AS FAR (), is a professional sport club based in Morocco's capital Rabat, that competes in Botola, the top tier of Moroccan football. The club was founded in 1958, 3 years after Morocco had gained their independence and is one of the most famous football clubs in Morocco. Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium (, , ) is a football stadium under construction, it is part of a larger sports complex with an athletics track and field stadium, an indoor arena named the Salle Moulay Abdellah and an Olympic swimming pool in Rabat, Morocco. It was named after Prince Moulay Abdellah of Morocco and was planned to be completed in 2025. The stadium is located 7km from the center of Rabat, the country's capital.
