Marco Polo describes this region as part of the Persian province of Shabankara, Shabankareh. Bushehr
Bushehr (; ) is a port city in the Central District (Bushehr County), Central District of Bushehr County, Bushehr province, Bushehr province, Iran, serving as capital of the province, the county, and the district. Etymology The roots of the name "Bushehr" are uncertain. It is unlikely that it is derived from ''Abū Šahr'' ("father of the city"), a theory which remains popular. It may be an abbreviation of Bokht-Ardashir ("Ardashir has given"), though this is not backed by conclusive evidence History Origins A number of alleged premodern references to Bushehr, including the first made by an Arab geographer in 1225, have been disputed as perhaps alluding to the modern city of Reishahr, a harbor 10 km to the south, where archaeological evidence points to the presence of a much older settlement. Reishahr is also most likely equivalent to the town of Mesambria, a place the Greeks knew since the campaign of Nearchus (died 300 BC), and which also has been occasionally identif ...

Meshginshahr
Meshginshahr () is a city in the Central District (Meshgin Shahr County), Central District of Meshgin Shahr County, Ardabil province, Ardabil province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district. History The 14th-century author Hamdallah Mustawfi mentioned the city, as ''Khiyāv'', as one of the seven cities in the ''Tumen (unit), tuman'' of Pishkin, or Mishkin. He distinguished between the cities of Khiyav and Pishkin: according to him, Khiyav lay to the south of Mount Sablan and had a warm climate, while Pishkin (which he said had formerly been called "Varāvī") was to the north of Mount Sablan and had a damp climate because the mountain shielded it from the sun. Both cities drew their water from the streams coming down from the mountain. The district of Pishkin, he wrote, grew both grain and fruit in abundance, while Khiyav mostly grew grain. Pishkin was assessed for a tax value of 5,200 dinars, while Khiyav was assessed at 2,000. Mustawfi wrote tha ...
