Lipnice nad Sázavou () is a town in Havlíčkův Brod District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 700 inhabitants. Karel Čáslavský (28 January 1937 in Lipnice nad Sázavou – 2 January 2013 in Prague) was a Czech film historian and television host. Čáslavský worked as a historian for the National Film Archive (Národní filmový archiv) of the Czech Republic (and Czechoslovakia) from 1963 until his death in 2013. Čáslavský created and hosted several television shows including the long-running ''In Search of Lost Time'', which aired on Czech TV for more than twenty years. In the series, ''In Search of Lost Time'', Čáslavský presented, discussed and aired archival films. Čáslavský also authored a two volume biography series on Czech and Czechoslovak film actors. Count Jindřich Matyáš of Thurn-Valsassina (; ; ; 24 February 1567 – 26 January 1640), was one of the leaders of the Protestant Bohemian Revolt against Emperor Ferdinand II. He took part in events that led to the Thirty Years' War, and after the war he became a military leader and diplomat in Swedish service, who eventually resided in Swedish Estonia. Life Jindřich Matyáš Thurn was born in Innsbruck in 1567. Shortly after, his family bought the Lipnice estate and moved there, then in 1574 they moved to Moravia. Lipnice Bible
The Lipnice Bible is a Latin biblical manuscript written in the first half of the 15th century in Bohemia. It was partially finished in May 1421 "in Lypnicz", very likely in Lipnice nad Sázavou. It is currently part of the collections of the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. Description and history The Lipnice Bible is written on parchment and contains 431 folios. The codex is not a mere Bible but contains a number of added texts. The decoration of the manuscript was carried out in three different phases as the codex was forced to change its location. Thus, it is a precious witness to a restless period of the Hussite Wars. The only figural illumination in the Lipnice Bible shows God as the Creator at the beginning of the book of Genesis. The Sázava () is a river in the Czech Republic, a right tributary of the Vltava River. It flows through the Vysočina Region, Vysočina and Central Bohemian Region, Central Bohemian regions.
