Lichtenberg () is the eleventh borough of Berlin, Germany. In Berlin's 2001 administrative reform it absorbed the former borough of Hohenschönhausen. Overview The district contains the Tierpark Berlin in Friedrichsfelde, the larger of Berlin's two zoological gardens. During the period of Berlin's partition between West and East, Lichtenberg was the location of the headquarters of the Stasi, the East German state security service. Prior to the establishment of the GDR it housed the main office of the Soviet Military Administration in Berlin, and before that it was an officers' mess of the Wehrmacht. The complex is now the location of the Stasi Museum. The Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial is on the site of the main remand prison of the Stasi. Additionally, Lichtenberg is the location of the German-Russian Museum, the historical venue of the unconditional surrender of the German armed forces (Wehrmacht) on 8 May 1945. Tom Lichtenberg
Thomas Lichtenberg (July 13, 1940 – May 26, 2013) was an American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach also at Morehead State University (1979–1980), the University of Maine (1989), and Ohio University (1990–1994), compiling a career college football coaching record of 26–59–3. He was also an assistant coach at Ohio State University and the University of Notre Dame. He began his teaching and coaching career as the first-ever head football coach at William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio in 1962, building the program from scratch at age 22. In 1965 the Comets joined the new Fort Ancient Valley Conference (FAVC) and he led them to four league titles through the 1970 season. After 10 years at Mason, he moved on to be the head coach at Purcell High School (now Purcell Marian High School) in Cincinnati before joining the college ranks. Philip Julius Lichtenberg also ''van Lichtenberg'', (26 April 1637 - March 1678) was a governor of Surinam. He was governor from 16 February 1669 until March 1671. Biography Lichtenberg was born on 26 April 1637 in Heusden, Netherlands. He studied law first at the University of Utrecht, and later Leiden University where he received his licentiate. After graduating, he joined the army. In 1666, Captains Lichtenberg and with 225 soldiers were dispatched by the States of Zeeland to fight the British in America during the Second Anglo-Dutch War. In 1667, under the command of Abraham Crijnssen, they conquered the English colony of Surinam. The soldiers were from Zeeland, therefore, the Province of Zeeland considered Surinam their colony, however the States General of the Netherlands disagreed. Lenka Lichtenberg is a Canadian singer, composer, songwriter, and cantorial soloist of Czech-Jewish descent. She sings in Czech, English, French, Hebrew, and Yiddish. Early life and education She was born in Prague, into a family of Jewish origin. Most of her mother's family was murdered during the Holocaust. At the age of nine, Lichtenberg became an actress at the Music Theatre Semafor in Prague. She moved to Denmark, where she studied music at Aarhus Universitet and worked as a club singer. In 1980s, Lichtenberg moved to Canada and settled in Vancouver, where she continued her studies at the University of British Columbia (B.Ed., music, French), and sang in a rock band. Leopold Lichtenberg (November 22, 1861 – May 16, 1935) was an American violinist. Biography Lichtenberg was born in San Francisco, California to Jewish parents. Lichtenberg studied under Beaujardin, and made his first appearance in concert when eight years of age. In his twelfth year, he was asked by Henryk Wieniawski, then on a visit to California, to become his pupil. He accompanied Wieniawski on a tour through America. Some time afterward he spent six months in Paris under Lambert, and then rejoined Wieniawski at Brussels Conservatory, where he studied unremittingly for three years. After winning a prize at a national competition held in Belgium, he made a successful tour through the Netherlands. Upon his return to America he played with Theodore Thomas' orchestra in New York City, and gave a number of recitals in other cities. Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (1 July 1742 – 24 February 1799) was a German physicist, satirist, and Anglophile. As a scientist, he was the first to hold a professorship explicitly dedicated to experimental physics in Germany. He is remembered for his posthumously published notebooks, which he himself called '' sudelbücher'', a description modelled on the English bookkeeping term " waste books" or "scrapbooks", and for his discovery of tree-like electrical discharge patterns now called Lichtenberg figures. Little Fyodor is the performance name of Dave Lichtenberg, an underground punk/garage musician from Denver, Colorado, who has been on the scene for four decades. He originally performed in the band Walls of Genius, and then went on to become a solo act (now with a full band, but still carrying the name Little Fyodor). He is also known as a public radio DJ, and a reviewer of self-published music. Biography Little Fyodor is originally from suburban New Jersey where during college he was particularly inspired by the Ramones album ''Leave Home'' including the song "Carbona Not Glue". Conrad Of Lichtenberg
Conrad of Lichtenberg (german: Konrad von Lichtenberg; french: Conrad de Lichtenberg; 1240 – 1 August 1299) was a bishop of Strasbourg in the 13th century. Lichtenberg was born to a wealthy family and entered the clergy at the age of 13. He was elected Bishop of Strasbourg in 1273. He died in combat while supporting his brother-in-law Egino against the city of Freiburg. Credit is given to Lichtenberg for the construction of the Western facade of Notre-Dame de Strasbourg, realized by German architect Erwin von Steinbach (1244–1318).
