''Let's See'' was a Canadian television series broadcast on CBC Television between September 6, 1952 to July 4, 1953. The segment, which had a running time of 15 minutes, was a puppet show with a character named Uncle Chichimus (voice of John Conway), which presented each evening's schedule as well as the weather forecast. Percy Saltzman was host and Larry D. Mann was a regular. Television in Canada officially began with the sign-on of the nation's first television stations in Montreal and Toronto in 1952. As with most media in Canada, the television industry, and the television programming available in that country, are strongly influenced by media in the United States and the United Kingdom, perhaps to an extent not seen in any other major industrialized nation. Franz Kraemer
Franz Kraemer, (June 1, 1914 – August 27, 1999) was a Canadian radio producer, a "pioneer produced of opera at CBC Television". In the 1930 he studied music in Vienna, with Alban Berg, Anton von Webern and others. Leaving Austria like many other artists in the 1930s around the time of the Nazi takeover in 1938, Kraemer became a naturalized Canadian citizen in 1947, the first year that Canadian citizenship was made available (prior to that all Canadians were considered British subjects). Kraemer made a name for himself as a gifted music composer and producer; he has been called by Adrienne Clarkson, former Governor General of Canada and CBC journalist, as "the most prolific and talented music producer the CBC Television ever produced ... Norman Jewison
Norman Frederick Jewison (July 21, 1926 – January 20, 2024) was a Canadian filmmaker. He was known for directing films which addressed topical Social issue, social and political issues, often making controversial or complicated subjects accessible to mainstream audiences. Among numerous other accolades, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director three times in three separate decades, for ''In the Heat of the Night (film), In the Heat of the Night'' (1967), ''Fiddler on the Roof (film), Fiddler on the Roof'' (1971), and ''Moonstruck'' (1987). Norman Campbell (director)
Norman Kenneth Campbell, (February 4, 1924 – April 12, 2004) was a Canadian composer, television producer, and television director best known for co-writing ''Anne of Green Gables - The Musical''. Born in Los Angeles, he joined CBC Vancouver as a radio producer in 1948. In 1952, he went to Toronto to produce the early CBC Television broadcasts. He produced and directed hundreds of television programs between the 1950s and 1990s, including a drama ''Ballerina'' (1966). He directed episodes of ''All in the Family'', ''The Mary Tyler Moore Show'' and '' One Day at a Time''. In 1978, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada "in recognition of the distinction he has brought to Canadian theatre through the operas, ballets, plays and musical comedies he has produced on stage and television for well over a quarter-century".
