Leon Morris
Leon Lamb Morris (15 March 1914 – 24 July 2006) was an Australian New Testament scholar and theologian. Born in Lithgow, New South Wales, Morris was ordained to the Anglican ministry in 1938. He earned Bachelor of Divinity (with first class honors) in 1943 and Master of Theology, both from University of London external system. He later received his PhD at the University of Cambridge in England on the subject which became his first major book, ''The Apostolic Preaching of the Cross''. He served as warden of Tyndale House, Cambridge (1960–64); principal of Ridley College in Melbourne (1964–1979), Australia (where they have named a library in his honour); and Visiting Professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. PNTC
The Pillar New Testament Commentary (or PNTC) is a series of commentaries in English on the New Testament. It is published by the William B. Eerdmans Publishing Company. Expanding during the last twenty years and already being revised, this series seems designed for students and pastors. Exegetical opinions are addressed and current academic theories are reviewed making the series serious but not overly technical. The series is conservative evangelical, however its commentators hail from various churchmanship. Currently the series editor is D. A. Carson. In August 2016, Eerdmans withdrew the two commentaries which Peter O'Brien has contributed to the series (on Ephesians and Hebrews) on account of plagiarism. According to Eerdmans, the commentary on Hebrews in particular ran afoul "of commonly accepted standards with regard to the utilization and documentation of secondary sources." George Eldon Ladd
George Eldon Ladd (July 31, 1911 – October 5, 1982) was a Baptist minister and professor of New Testament theology and exegesis at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, known in Christian eschatology for his promotion of inaugurated eschatology and "futuristic post-tribulationism." Biography Ladd was born in Alberta, Canada, and was raised in New England. He studied theology at Gordon College in Massachusetts, and was ordained in 1933 in the Northern Baptist Convention. He pastored churches in New Hampshire and Vermont while pursuing further education at Gordon Divinity School. Ladd served as an instructor at Gordon College of Theology and Missions (now Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary), Wenham, Massachusetts from 1942–45. He was an associate professor of New Testament and Greek from 1946–50, and head of the department of New Testament from 1946–49. Günther Bornkamm (8 October 1905 – 18 February 1990) was a German New Testament scholar belonging to the school of Rudolf Bultmann and a Professor of New Testament at the University of Heidelberg. Under Adolf Hitler, he opposed the nazification of the Protestant churches and their unification into the movement of the 'German Christians'. His post-war fame as a scholar rested on his effort to separate fiction from facts in his reconstruction of Jesus' life and in his subsequent treatment of the gospel of Matthew. John Painter (theologian)
John Painter, (born 22 September 1935 in Bellingen, New South Wales) is an Australian academic, New Testament scholar, and Christian theologian specializing in Johannine literature. He is currently Professor of Theology at Charles Sturt University in Canberra. Biography Painter studied at Moore Theological College, the University of London, and the University of Durham. Before taking up his present position he had previously been Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town and La Trobe University.
