Lena D'Água
Helena Maria de Jesus Águas (born 16 June 1956), known professionally as Lena d'Água, is a Portuguese singer. Biography Lena d'Água was born in Lisbon. In 1973 she enrolled briefly in Sociology but, as the 25 April 1974, Carnation Revolution came to fruition, she left university and joined a theatre group, later majoring in Education. In 1975, Lena d'Água married Ramiro Martins, the bass player of The Beatnicks. The couple had a daughter and, in May of the following year, she joined the band as lead singer, divorcing and leaving the project in 1978. Being the first woman in the country to lead a pop rock band, she became a sex symbol and a pop star; after singing with the Beatnicks and Salada de Frutas she pursued a solo career with her band Atlântida, whose first three solo albums were produced by England's Robin Geoffrey Cable. Elis Regina Carvalho Costa (March 17, 1945 – January 19, 1982), known professionally as Elis Regina (), was a Brazilian singer of Bossa nova, Música popular brasileira, MPB and jazz music. She is also the mother of the singers Maria Rita and Pedro Mariano. She became nationally renowned in 1965 after singing "Arrastão" (composed by Edu Lobo and Vinícius de Moraes) in the first edition of TV Excelsior festival song contest and soon joined ''O Fino da Bossa'', a television program on TV Record. Beto (Portuguese Singer)
Beto (December 28, 1967 – May 23, 2010), stage name of Albertino João Santos Pereira, was a Portuguese singer. Beto was born in Peniche, Portugal, and started to sing at the age of five. He settled in Torres Vedras at 17. Beto founded the music group Tanimaria in 1992, which performed in Xafarix, a bar in Lisbon. In 2000 he recorded a project with Rita Guerra which resulted in the album ''Desencontros'', performed by both in shows across the country. His 2003 solo debut album, ''Olhar em Frente'', reached platinum status, followed by the plantinum-selling ''Influência'' in 2005. Portugal In The OTI Festival
The participation of Portugal in the OTI Festival first began at the inaugural OTI Festival in 1972 which took place in Madrid. Radiotelevisão Portuguesa (RTP), member of the Organización de Televisión Iberoamericana (OTI), was responsible for the Portuguese participation. It participated in twenty-two editions and hosted the 1987 contest in Lisbon. Rui Águas (footballer)
José Rui Lopes Águas (born 28 April 1960) is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a striker, currently a manager. He had highly successful spells at two of the biggest clubs in Portugal, Benfica and Porto, amassing Primeira Liga totals of 292 games and 121 goals over 12 seasons. Águas represented the Portugal national team at the 1986 World Cup. José Águas
José Pinto de Carvalho Santos Águas (; 9 November 1930 – 10 December 2000) was a Portuguese footballer who played as a striker. He enjoyed a lengthy professional spell with Benfica, never scoring less than 18 goals in 12 of his 13 first division seasons. A prolific goalscorer, Águas was nicknamed "Cabeça de Ouro" ("Golden Head") because of his header skills. Deforestation
Deforestation or forest clearance is the removal and destruction of a forest or stand of trees from land that is then converted to non-forest use. Deforestation can involve conversion of forest land to farms, ranches, or urban use. About 31% of Earth's land surface is covered by forests at present. This is one-third less than the forest cover before the expansion of agriculture, with half of that loss occurring in the last century. Between 15 million to 18 million hectares of forest, an area the size of Bangladesh, are destroyed every year. On average 2,400 trees are cut down each minute. Estimates vary widely as to the extent of deforestation in the tropics. In 2019, nearly a third of the overall tree cover loss, or 3.8 million hectares, occurred within humid tropical primary forests.
