The legislative districts of Samar are the representations of the Provinces of the Philippines, province of Samar (province), Samar in the List of legislatures of the Philippines, various national legislatures of the Philippines. The province is currently represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines, lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its Samar's 1st congressional district, first and Samar's 2nd congressional district, second congressional districts. History The former province of Samar was divided into three House of Representatives of the Philippines#District representation, legislative districts from 1907 until 1965. Tagapul-an, officially the Municipality of Tagapul-an (; ; ), is a municipality in the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 8,805 people. It is the farthest municipality from the province's mainland. History The island of Tagapul-an was originally part of the municipality of Almagro. Tagapul-an was established as a municipality of Western Samar on November 15, 1976. Santo Niño, Samar
Santo Niño, officially the Municipality of Santo Niño (; ; ), is a municipality in the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 12,519 people. Formerly known as Limbancauayan, it consists of the northern island of Camandag and the larger Santo Niño Island about to the south. In between those two islands is the smaller Pilar Island. The municipality's ''poblacion'' (town center) is located in Santo Niño Island. History This town has an ancient Bisayan name Limbankawayan which derived from the word ''limba'' meaning red and ''kawayan'' means bamboo thus a red colored bamboo (phyllostachys iridescens) which is abundant during those days. Santa Margarita, Samar
Santa Margarita, officially the Municipality of Santa Margarita (; ), is a municipality in the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 26,816 people. Formerly known as Magsohong, it is bounded to the north by the city of Calbayog and to the south by Gandara. History The town used to be a barrio in Calbayog named Magsohong. On June 29, 1878, the ''principalía'' of Magsohong petitioned the Gobierno Superior to establish Magsohong as an independent pueblo. San Jorge, Samar
San Jorge, officially the Municipality of San Jorge (; ), is a municipality in the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 17,579 people. The town is famous for its Blanca Aurora Falls near Barangay Blanca Aurora along the Blanca Aurora river. An inauguration is held every 10 October since 1979.
