League Leaders' Shield
The League Leaders' Shield is a trophy awarded to the team finishing the season top of Super League in the sport of rugby league football. This regular portion of the season precedes the playoffs for the eventual Super League Grand Final. The trophy was first awarded in Super League VII in 2002. St Helens won the first shield in 2002, and have since won the shield on a total of 9 occasions. Wigan Warriors become only the 2nd team (along with St Helens), to retain the shield. History From 1907 until 1973 the Championship was awarded to the team winning a top-four play-off (excluding the 2 seasons 1962–63 and 1963–64, when the championship was awarded to the top-placed team). The Wigan Warriors is an English professional rugby league club based in Wigan, Greater Manchester. The club competes in the Super League, the top tier of the British rugby league system. Super League XII
Engage Super League XII is the official name for the year 2007's Super League season in the sport of rugby league. The 2007 season kicked off on the weekend of 2 February 2007 at the Galpharm Stadium. For the first time, the league had a staggered start due to the World Club Challenge between St. Helens and Brisbane Broncos. The first round of matches began on the weekend of 9 to 11 February 2007. The opening round attendance of 21,693 between Wigan and Warrington at the DW Stadium was the biggest opening round Super League attendance to date, and would remain the biggest until Wigan v Leigh in 2025. The Castleford Tigers are a professional rugby league club in Castleford, West Yorkshire, England. The Betfred Super League XXII, was the year 2017 Super League season and 123rd season of rugby league in Britain. Super League XXII featured twelve teams, the third year in which this number has taken part. Twelve teams competed over 23 rounds, including the Magic Weekend, after which the eight highest entered the play-offs for a place in the Grand Final. The four lowest teams entered the Super League Qualifying Play-off, along with the four highest Championship teams, to decide which will play in Super League XXI. Leeds Rhinos became only the 3rd team to complete the Treble after defeating Wigan Warriors 22-20 in front of a new record attendance of 73,512 at Old Trafford to win their 7th Super League title.
