Leader's Questions (TV Programme)
''Leader's Questions'' is an Irish TV programme broadcast on RTÉ One and RTÉ News channel. It is produced by RTÉ News and Current Affairs, edited by Joe Mag Raollaigh and is presented by Sharon Ní Bheoláin. Political correspondents Micheál Lehane and Paul Cunningham also present from time to time. The programme airs every Wednesday and Thursday at around 11:45 during the Dáil term and broadcasts live proceedings from Leinster House of questions posed by opposition leaders in parliament to the Taoiseach and the Tánaiste The Tánaiste ( , ) is the second-ranking member of the government of Ireland and the holder of its second-most senior office. Sharon Ní Bheoláin
Sharon Ní Bheoláin (, approximately ; born Boland on 15 February 1971) is an Irish journalist, newsreader and presenter with RTÉ, Ireland's national radio and television broadcaster, where she has presented the '' Nine O'Clock News'' since 2018. She has presented many flagship programmes including '' Crimecall'', '' Nuacht RTÉ'', '' One O'Clock News'' and '' Six One News'', as well as all other news bulletins on both radio and television. Early life and education Sharon Boland was born in Ayrefield, County Dublin, 15 February 1971. Her family moved to Malahide in 1980. RTÉ Television Centre
The RTÉ Television Centre is a television studio building which is owned by Ireland's national public service broadcaster . It is part of the RTÉ campus located at Donnybrook in South Dublin. The building houses the main production studios for RTÉ Television, the control rooms for all RTÉ's TV channels, and RTÉ's main newsroom. RTÉ One
RTÉ One is an Irish free-to-air flagship television channel owned and operated by RTÉ. It is the most-popular and most-watched television channel in the country and was launched as ''Telefís Éireann'' on 31 December 1961, it was renamed ''RTÉ'' in 1966, and it was renamed as RTÉ 1 upon the launch of RTÉ 2 in 1978. It is funded partly by the government's licence fee; the remainder of the funding is provided by commercial advertising. Because RTÉ is funded partly by the licence fee it shows considerably fewer advertisements than most other channels available in Ireland and Northern Ireland. RTÉ News and Current Affairs (), also known simply as RTÉ News (''Nuacht RTÉ''), is the national news service provided by Irish public broadcaster (RTÉ). Its services include local, national, European and international news, investigative journalism and current affairs programming for RTÉ television, radio, online, podcasts, on-demand and for independent Irish language public broadcaster TG4. ''RTÉ Morning Edition'' is an Irish news television programme that was broadcast on RTÉ One and RTÉ News Now from 28 January 2013 to 28 November 2014. The programme was presented by Keelin Shanley and Anthony Murnane. It was produced by RTÉ News and Current Affairs. Format The programme aired every Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 11:00 and provided a live morning mix of news, sport, business, topical discussion and entertainment. The show was a success upon its launch. The first show started at 09:00 on 28 January 2013 and the first season ran until May 2013. The show returned for a second season on 2 September 2013. Paul Cunningham (journalist)
Paul Cunningham (born 1970) is an Irish journalist and author. He is currently Political Correspondent for RTÉ News. He has regularly reported on conflicts, natural disasters and other matters outside the EU. Most recently he reported from Iran, Ukraine and Iraq. He has won multiple awards for his work. Cunningham has also written two books, including ''Ireland's Burning''. Career Early career Cunningham started to write articles for local newspapers in Dublin, before freelancing with ''The Irish Times'' and ''The Irish Press''. Quickly he began to pick up freelance shifts on RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ 2FM as a sub-editor and news-reader. After 2 years, he was appointed to the RTÉ Newsroom as a reporter. Leinster House
Leinster House () is the seat of the Oireachtas, the parliament of Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Originally, it was the ducal palace of the Duke of Leinster, Dukes of Leinster. The Taoiseach (, ) is the head of government or prime minister of Republic of Ireland, Ireland.
