"The Day the Rains Came" or "Am Tag als der Regen kam" or "La pioggia cadrà" is an adaptation of the French song "Le Jour où la pluie viendra". The latter is a Popular music, popular song released in 1957, composed and written by Gilbert Bécaud and Pierre Delanoë. Bécaud's version reached number 3 in Wallonia, in a tandem ranking, and number 20 in Flanders. In the United Kingdom, an English language version by Jane Morgan went to number one for a week in 1959. That version also reached number 4 in Canada and number 7 in Norway. In the US, Raymond Lefèvre was the first to release the song, but as instrumental under the English title. Gilbert Bécaud
François Gilbert Léopold Silly (24 October 1927 – 18 December 2001), known professionally as Gilbert Bécaud (), was a French singer, composer, pianist and actor, known as "Monsieur 100,000 Volts" for his energetic performances. His best-known hits are " Nathalie" and "Et maintenant", a 1961 release that became an English language hit as " What Now My Love". He remained a popular artist for nearly fifty years, identifiable in his dark blue suits, with a white shirt and "lucky tie"; blue with white polka dots. When asked to explain his gift he said, "A flower doesn't understand botany." His favourite venue was the Paris Olympia under the management of Bruno Coquatrix. He debuted there in 1954 and headlined in 1955, attracting 6,000 on his first night, three times the capacity. '' Die Welt'', a German newspaper, described the magazine as the music industry's thermometer. History and profile ''Musikmarkt'' was established by publisher Josef Keller Verlag in 1959. "Gondolier" is a song by the French singer Dalida, first released on an EP in December 1957. It was her second major hit after " Bambino". Reaching No. 1 on both the La Bourse des Chansons chart and the Music Hall chart in France, it was the title song for Dalida's 1958 album ''Gondolier''. The song also reached No. 1 on the Belgian and Canadian charts. Description The song's melody was composed by Peter De Angelis with lyrics by Jean Broussolle. It was released as a promotional single on February 22, 1957, but it received no promotion because of the prolonged success of "Bambino". As the song did not reach its audience, De Angelis and his colleague Bob Marcucci wrote the English language version which gained success in the US and UK in mid-1957. Germana Caroli (born Germana Mazzetti, 18 August 1931 – 7 January 2024) was an Italian singer, mainly active in the 1950s. Anita Traversi (25 July 1937 – 25 September 1991) was a Swiss singer, best known for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contests of 1960 and 1964. Roberta Corti (21 March 1936 – 15 June 2006), better known by her stage name Betty Curtis, was an Italian singer active from 1957 to 2004. Curtis grew up in the Zone 8 of Milan's borough Cagnola. She started singing in night clubs at an early age and was discovered by Teddy Reno in 1958. Her debut single was a rendition of With All My Heart performed with the Franco Pisano Orchestra.
