Le Dictionnaire Universel Des Créatrices
''Le Dictionnaire universel des créatrices'' (English language, English: ''The Universal Dictionary of Creatives'') is a French biographical dictionary book devoted to creative women, initiated in 2010 and published in 2013. There are three volumes of 4,900 pages, that were written by 1,600 contributors. More than 10,000 women biographies are included in the book. UNESCO has sponsored the book publication. In 2015, an Ebook, e-book digital version was released with some 200+ additional biographies added. Antoinette Fouque
Antoinette Fouque (Birth name, née Antoinette Grugnardi; 1 October 1936 – 20 February 2014) was a French psychoanalysis, psychoanalyst who was involved in the French women's liberation movement. She was the leader of one of the groups that originally formed the French Women's Liberation (MLF), and she later registered the trademark MLF specifically under her name. She helped found the publishing house ''Éditions des Femmes'' (English: ''Women's Editions'') as well as the first collection of audio-books in France, "Bibliothèque des voix" (Library of voices). Her position in feminist theory was primarily essentialist, and heavily based in psychoanalysis. She helped author ''Le Dictionnaire universel des créatrices'' (2013), a biographical dictionary about creative women. Béatrice Didier (born 21 December 1935 in La Tronche, Isère) is a French literary critic. Biography Didier was a professor of literature and a publishing series director. She earned a literary doctorate in 1965. She is also a Professor Emeritus of École normale supérieure (ENS), where she headed a seminary exposing the relationship between literature and music. Didier is a specialist of the French literature of the 17th and 18th centuries (especially Senancour, Chateaubriand, Stendhal and George Sand) as well as of autobiographical works. She edited and published numerous works, and contributed to the ''Europe'' magazine. She headed the series "Écrivains", "Écriture" and "Écrit" of the Presses Universitaires de France. Éditions des Femmes is a French feminist publishing house that was launched in 1972, mainly by women of the collective ''Psychanalyse et politique'' led by Antoinette Fouque, with other activists of the MLF, and funded by the patron Sylvina Boissonnas. They offer works written by women, women focused issues related to human rights and women's empowerment, women's creativity and reflection, and also produce audio books. History The statutes of the SARL Women (a company composed of 21 members in equal parts) were filed in December 1972. The first manager was Yvonne Boissarie. Marie-Claude Grumbach (December 11, 1940 - 1 May 2001) succeeded in June 1974. Sonia Rykiel
Sonia Rykiel (; ; 25 May 1930 – 25 August 2016) was a French fashion designer and writer. She created the Poor Boy Sweater, which was featured on the cover of French ''Elle'' magazine. Her knitwear designs and new fashion techniques led her to be dubbed the "Queen of Knits". The Sonia Rykiel label was founded in 1968, upon the opening of her first store, making clothing, accessories, and fragrances. Rykiel was also a writer, and her first book was published in 1979. In 2012, Rykiel revealed that she was suffering from Parkinson's disease. She died from complications of the disease on 25 August 2016. Published in 2006 by Yorkin Publications (an imprint of Gale), the three-volume ''Dictionary'' was intended to redress the paucity of information on women available in other biographical dictionaries. Editors Anne Commire and Deborah Klezmer found that typically five percent or less of the text of such works was devoted to women. The dictionary was the winner of the 2007 Best Reference Book Award from the American Library Association.
