Duane Isely
Duane Isely (1918–2000) was an American professor of botany and an expert on seed technology and weeds. Biography Isely was born to Dwight Isely, a professor of entomology, and Blessie Elise, both of whom studied and worked at the University of Arkansas. He too graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in 1938 and a master's degree in 1939. In 1942 he received his PhD from Cornell University with thesis supervisor Walter Conrad Muenscher (1891–1963). From 1942 to 1944 Isely conducted studies on the herbaceous plants of the reservoirs being constructed for the Tennessee Valley Authority. In 1944 he was appointed an extension associate at Iowa State University, where he was put in charge of the seed laboratory. At Iowa State University he was an assistant professor from 1947 to 1948, an associate professor from 1949 to 1955, and a full professor from 1956 to 1981. He was appointed Distinguished Professor in 1981 and retired in 1989 as professor emeritus. ...

Dwight Isely
Dwight Isely (15 August 1887 – 26 December 1974) was an American entomologist who worked on pest management, especially in cotton, and served as a professor of entomology at the University of Arkansas. He is considered a pioneer of what was later termed as Integrated Pest Management. Isely was born to Christian and Elise Dubach Isely at Fairview, Kansas. He studied at Fairmount College (AB, 1910) and the University of Kansas (MA, 1913). He then worked at the Bureau of Entomology at the US Department of Agriculture in Washington DC. He joined the University of Arkansas in 1921 and worked there as a teacher, and researcher. He began a practice of routine collection of data on cotton pests through the use of students termed as "cotton scouts" (one of them was James G. Margaret Isely
Margaret Isely (August 13, 1921 – July 23, 1997) was an American businesswoman, organic food activist, nutritionist, political activist and peace activist. She is best known for founding the health food chain Natural Grocers in 1955 along with her husband Philip Isely. She was co-founder of the Global Ratification and Elections Network (GREN) and World Constitution and Parliament Association (WCPA) along with her husband Philip Isely. Early life Born as Margaret Ann Sheesley, on August 13, 1921, she grew up in Illinois. She worked as a waitress. Philip Isely (October 16, 1915 – June 26, 2012) was an American peace activist and writer best known for writing numerous books and founding the Global Ratification and Elections Network (GREN) (now known as Earth Federation Movement (EFM)) and World Constitution and Parliament Association (WCPA) along with his wife Margaret Isely, in 1955. He was also co-founder of the health food chain Natural Grocers (formerly Vitamin Cottage store). Early life and education Born as Henry Philip Isely on October 16, 1915, the son of James Walter Isely and Jessie M. Owen, he grew up in Montezuma, Kansas.
