Landed (Ben Folds Song)
"Landed" was the first single from Ben Folds' 2005 album ''Songs for Silverman''. It reached number 77 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart and number 40 on the ''Billboard'' Adult Top 40 chart, making it one of Folds' biggest hits. Per Folds, "'Landed' is about a friend of mine who was in a bad relationship. I just wrote a song about it." String arranger Paul Buckmaster had done arrangement, but Folds left it out on the initial release. Said Folds, "he'd weighed in strong, almost intrusively I thought. ..I regretted it before it hit the stores and made sure all subsequent versions of the song were released with strings." Ben Folds
Benjamin Scott Folds (born September 12, 1966) is an American singer-songwriter from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After playing in several small independent bands throughout the late 80s and into the early 90s, Folds came to prominence as the frontman and pianist of the alternative rock trio Ben Folds Five from 1993 to 2000, and again during their reunion from 2011 to 2013. He has recorded a number of solo albums, most recently '' Sleigher'' (2024). He has also collaborated with musicians such as Regina Spektor, "Weird Al" Yankovic and yMusic, and undertaken experimental songwriting projects with actor William Shatner and authors such as Nick Hornby and Neil Gaiman. He was the artistic advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. from 2019 until 2025. Daryl Franklin Hohl (born October 11, 1946), known professionally as Daryl Hall, is an American rock, R&B, and soul singer. He is best known as the co-founder and principal lead vocalist of Hall & Oates, with guitarist and songwriter John Oates. The Spizzwinks
The Spizzwinks, stylized as The Spizzwinks(?), are an a cappella singing group of undergraduates from Yale University. Founded in late 1913, the Spizzwinks(?) are the oldest underclassman a cappella group in the United States, dating back to a first performance in early 1914. Composed of roughly sixteen people, with exact numbers depending on the year, the Spizzwinks perform concerts and teach masterclasses through extensive international and domestic touring schedules. Through four principal tours each year, during Yale College's fall, winter, spring and summer recesses respectively, the Spizzwink Promise guarantees each member that they will tour on six continents and in their hometown during their three years in the group. ''Songs for Silverman'' is the second studio album by Ben Folds, released in April 2005 by Epic Records. The album reached No. 13 on the ''Billboard'' 200, making it Folds' highest-charting album until the release of '' Way to Normal'' in 2008. The album is named after Ben Goldman, Folds' former A&R representative at Sony BMG. Folds explained, "I was always sending songs to him for the album, so I wanted to name it after him. But somebody (from Sony) found out and flipped out, so I changed it a bit and turned it in." Goldman's name also spawned the title of Folds' compilation album '' Songs for Goldfish''.
