Powderhorn Mountain Resort is a ski resort located outside the community of Mesa, Colorado, 45 minutes east of Grand Junction. The resort is situated on the Grand Mesa. Skiing Powderhorn sits on the side of the world's largest flattop mountain, the grand Mesa, allowing for views extending across the desert below. The climate at Powderhorn's high desert location— east of Grand Junction, Colorado and slightly north and east of Colorado National Monument— produces dry, powder snow. The Powderhorn Wilderness is a wilderness area in Hinsdale and Gunnison counties, Colorado, United States, located northeast of Lake City. Description Most of the northern part of the wilderness area, , about 77.5%, is located on Bureau of Land Management land and its southern portion, , about 22.5%, is located within the Gunnison National Forest. Elevations in the wilderness range from at the West Fork Powderhorn Creek to at the summit of Calf Creek Plateau. The Powderhorn Wilderness is an important watershed for the Gunnison River. The area protects the East, Middle, and West forks of Powderhorn Creek, which flow into Cebolla Creek and then the Gunnison River. Calf Creek, which is on National Forest land, flows south and eventually joins Cebolla Creek. Within the wilderness area there are numerous small lakes and beaver ponds. Powderhorn, Minneapolis
Powderhorn is a defined community in Minneapolis that consists of eight neighborhoods. The community name is derived from Powderhorn Lake that is the centerpiece of the present-day Powderhorn Park. Located south of downtown, the community also features the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Hennepin History Museum, the Midtown Greenway trail, and numerous other establishments, many of which serve the Latin American and African diaspora. Powderhorn Park is a neighborhood within the larger Powderhorn community of Minneapolis. The neighborhood is located approximately three miles south of downtown and is bordered by East Lake Street to the north, Cedar Avenue to the east, East 38th Street to the south, and Chicago Avenue to the west. Its namesake is the city's Powderhorn Park facility in the northwestern part of the neighborhood around Powderhorn Lake. History Developed mainly between 1905 and 1920, it is a residential area consisting of single-family homes, duplexes, and three-story brick apartment buildings. Powderhorn Park (urban Park)
Powderhorn Park is an urban park in Minneapolis. It sits in the northwest of the Powderhorn Park neighborhood and near the center of the larger Powderhorn community, both of which take their names from the park. The park was established around Powderhorn Lake in the late 19th century. The park is mostly set at an elevation below the surrounding neighborhood. It contains playing fields, playgrounds and a recreation center that hosts community education classes ranging from pottery to yoga. In winter, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board sets up a portable warming house and the lake is used for ice skating. Powderhorn Lake is a popular local destination for shore or pier fishing. Big Powderhorn Mountain
Big Powderhorn Mountain is a ski resort located in Gogebic County in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, within Bessemer Township and Ironwood Township (between the cities of Bessemer and Ironwood). The mountain is part of the Gogebic Range with a summit of 1,640 ft (500m) and a base elevation of 1,240 ft (378m), for a 400 ft. vertical drop. It offers 9 chairlifts accessing 45 trails for Alpine skiing and Snowboarding on 253 skiable acres, with an even mix of easy, intermediate, and difficult trail ratings and two terrain parks. The Wolverine Nordic Trail also connects to the resort for cross-country skiing. Fire On January 13, 2011, a fire occurred at the main lodge.
