La Motte-Picquet–Grenelle Station
La Motte-Picquet–Grenelle () is a station of the Paris Métro, at the interconnection of line 6, line 8, and line 10 in the 15th arrondissement. The station combines underground and elevated platforms. It is a major métro interchange on the Rive Gauche, the biggest west of Montparnasse. History The elevated station first opened on 24 April 1906 under the name ''La Motte-Piquet,'' as part of the extension of line 2 South from Passy to Place d'Italie. It was named after the nearby avenue de La Motte-Picquet, after Admiral Toussaint-Guillaume Picquet de La Motte (1720–1791), and boulevard de Grenelle, a former commune until it was annexed by Paris in 1860. Paris Métro Line 5 is one of the 16 lines of the Paris Métro in Paris, France. It crosses the east of Paris from to . It is the eighth-busiest line on the network. History On 15 June 2011 the MF 2000, MF 01 began entering revenue service onto Line 5, gradually replacing the aging MF 67 stock. The initial announcement was made in 2006 and trains began to be tested during the course of late 2010 and early 2011. As of June 2013, only three to five MF 67 trains remain in service. The Bois de Vincennes (), located on the eastern edge of Paris, France, is the largest public park in the city. It was created between 1855 and 1866 by Emperor Napoleon III. The park is next to the Château de Vincennes, a former residence of the Kings of France.
