Belgium was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 with the song "", written and performed by Jean Vallée. The Belgian participating broadcaster, Walloon (RTBF), selected its entry through a national final. Before Eurovision Walloon broadcaster (RTBF) had the turn to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 representing Belgium. Eight songs participated in the selection and the winner was chosen by a 12-member expert jury. The jury was chaired by Henri Billen and consisted of three members from SABAM, three journalists, three people in the radio industry, and three people in the television industry. was broadcast on 8 February 1978 at 20:00 CET until 20:30 CET on RTBF 1. Franco Gabelli better known by his stage name Frank Michael is a Belgian singer of Italian origin born in Bedonia, Italy on 7 May 1947. He has reportedly sold millions of albums throughout the world. At age of three, Franco's family left Italy and resided in Seraing, province of Liège, Belgium. At age 16, he started working as a television electronics technician. Sandra Kim
Sandra Caldarone (born 15 October 1972), better known as Sandra Kim, is a Belgian singer of Italian descent who won the Eurovision Song Contest 1986 in Bergen, Norway. Her father was an Italian immigrant from Torrebruna in the Province of Chieti in the Abruzzo region of Italy. At the time of her Eurovision win, she was only 13 years old, making her the youngest winner of the contest, even though the lyrics of her song " J'aime la vie" ("I love life") imply that she is 15; the Swiss petitioned to have the song disqualified after her real age was revealed. This petition ended up failing and Kim went on to win that year's Eurovision Song Contest. Jean Vallée (born Paul Goeders in Verviers on 2 October 1941 – 12 March 2014, Clermont-sur-Berwinne) was a Belgian songwriter and performer. Jacques Hustin (15 March 1940 – 6 April 2009) was a Belgian singer-songwriter and artist who was successful in his homeland in both fields, and is best known internationally for his participation in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. Early career Hustin was born in Liège. From an early age, Hustin was interested in both music and painting. He studied art and design, and worked at various times as an illustrator, stage designer and composer of incidental music.
