L'Opération Corned-Beef
''L'Opération Corned Beef'' is a French film directed by Jean-Marie Poiré. It was filmed during the summer of 1990 and released on 6 February 1991. It was the fifth collaboration between screenwriters Jean-Marie Poiré and Christian Clavier. The film also brought actors Christian Clavier and Jean Reno together, before their appearance in ''Les Visiteurs''. Synopsis The film begins in Bogotá, Colombia. Captain Philippe Boulier, called 'Le Squale' (The Shark) (Jean Reno), is monitoring the actions of Augusto Zargas (André Schmit), a former Argentinian colonel and current arms dealer. To track his movements, the French secret service (DGSE) hides a microphone in the engagement ring of Marie-Laurence Granianski (Valérie Lemercier), an interpreter for the consul general, one of Zargas' associates (Marc de Jonge). Jacques Sereys (2 June 1928 – 1 January 2023) was a French actor and theatre director. Biography Raised by a single mother who worked as an embroiderer, Sereys grew up in Marseille. He began to make money at the age of 14 while working for Crédit Lyonnais. In 1951, he was admitted to the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique and attended classes taught by Henri Rollan. He joined the Comédie-Française in 1955, first as an associate before becoming a sociétaire in 1959. In 1964, Sereys left the Comédie-Française to devote himself to boulevard theatre, a period in which he met the likes of Jacques Charon and Robert Hirsch. Raymond Gérôme (17 May 1920 — 3 February 2002) was a Belgian-born, French stage and screen actor. Gérôme was born as Raymond Joseph Léon De Backer in Koekelberg. He made his first stage appearance in 1946, in a stage production of ''Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher'' and he entered films in 1954. He is best known to English speaking audiences for his roles as The Commander in ''The Brain (1969 film), The Brain'' and Inspector Renard in ''The Greengage Summer''.
