Arthur Cravan
Arthur Cravan (born Fabian Avenarius Lloyd; 22 May 1887 – disappeared 1918) was a Swiss writer, poet, artist and boxer. He was the second son of Otho Holland Lloyd and Hélène Clara St. Clair. His brother Otho Lloyd was a painter and photographer married to the Russian émigré artist Olga Sacharoff. His father's sister, Constance Mary Lloyd, was married to Irish poet Oscar Wilde. He changed his name to Cravan in 1912 in honour of his fiancée Renée Bouchet, who was born in the small village of Cravans in the department of Charente-Maritime in western France. Cravan was last seen at Salina Cruz, Mexico in 1918 and most likely drowned in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico in November 1918. Geneviève Castrée
Geneviève Elverum ( Gosselin; April 9, 1981 – July 9, 2016), also known as Geneviève Castrée, was a Canadian cartoonist, illustrator, and musician from Quebec. An early admirer of comics, she began creating them at a young age. L'Oie de Cravan published her first book, ''Lait Frappé'', in 2000. By 2004 she had released three more books—''Die Fabrik, Roulatheque Roulatheque Nicolore'' and ''Pamplemoussi''. The latter is considered her artistic breakthrough. Her 2012 book ''Susceptible'' gave her international success and was followed by a book of poems in French titled ''Maman Sauvage'' in 2015. Her next two works ''A Bubble'' and ''Maman Apprivoisée'' were both released posthumously. She also recorded a total of eight albums under the name Woelv and Ô Paon (stylized in all caps). Diane Obomsawin (born 1959) is an Abenaki Quebec-based author, illustrator and animated filmmaker, often known by her pseudonym, Obom. Byron Coley is an American music critic who wrote prominently for '' Forced Exposure'' magazine in the 1980s, from the fifth issue until the magazine ceased publication in 1993. Michael Hurley (musician)
Michael Hurley (December 20, 1941 – April 1, 2025) was an American folk singer-songwriter who was a part of the Greenwich Village folk music scene of the 1960s and 1970s. In addition to playing a wide variety of instruments, Hurley was also a cartoonist and a painter. Hurley's music has been described as " outsider folk". Career Before starting his recording career Hurley contracted mononucleosis and needed to wait several years until he could sign to a record label. Hurley's debut album, ''First Songs'', was recorded for Folkways Records in 1963, on the same reel-to-reel machine that taped ''Lead Belly's Last Sessions''.
