L'Oceanogràfic
L'Oceanogràfic (, , 'The Oceanographic') is an oceanarium situated in the Garden of the Turia to the southeast of the city center of Valencia, Spain, where different marine habitats are represented. It was designed by the architect Félix Candela and the structural engineers Alberto Domingo and Carlos Lázaro. It is integrated inside the cultural complex known as the City of Arts and Sciences, Ciutat de les Arts i de les Ciències (City of Arts and Sciences). It was opened on 14 February 2003. City Of Arts And Sciences
The City of Arts and Sciences (, ) is a cultural and architectural complex in the city of Valencia, Spain, Valencia, Spain. It is the most important modern tourist destination in the city of Valencia and one of the 12 Treasures of Spain. The City of Arts and Sciences is situated at the southeast end of the former riverbed of the river Turia (river), Turia, which was drained and rerouted after a catastrophic 1957 Valencia flood, flood in 1957. Félix Candela
Félix Candela Outeriño (; January 27, 1910 – December 7, 1997) was a Spanish and Mexican architect who was born in Madrid and at the age of 26, emigrated to Mexico, acquiring double nationality. He is known for his significant role in the development of Mexican architecture and structural engineering. Candela's major contribution to architecture was the development of thin shells made out of reinforced concrete, popularly known as ''cascarones''. He was Santiago Calatrava's icon who has had a great influence on his works. At the end of his career he worked with the architect Fernando Higueras, designing inverted umbrellas with 12-meter cantilevers, and with the young and innovative . Red Sea
The Red Sea is a sea inlet of the Indian Ocean, lying between Africa and Asia. Its connection to the ocean is in the south, through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden. To its north lie the Sinai Peninsula, the Gulf of Aqaba, and the Gulf of Suez—leading to the Suez Canal. It is underlain by the Red Sea Rift, which is part of the Great Rift Valley. Garden Of The Turia
The Jardín del Turia is a public urban park located in the former riverbed of the Turia River in the city of Valencia, Spain. The park spans approximately 136 hectares, with plans to expand to 160.5 hectares in the future. It stretches nearly 8.5 kilometers in length, which will extend to almost 10 kilometers upon completion of the final section, with an average width of about 160 meters. It is one of the largest purely urban gardens in Spain. The park begins at the border with the municipality of Mislata, adjacent to the Canaleta Park and Bioparc Valencia (inaugurated in 2008) at about 19 meters above sea level, and ends at Passeig de l'Albereda near the Oceanogràfic (inaugurated in 2003) at 1 meter above sea level. Seagrass
Seagrasses are the only flowering plants which grow in marine (ocean), marine environments. There are about 60 species of fully marine seagrasses which belong to four Family (biology), families (Posidoniaceae, Zosteraceae, Hydrocharitaceae and Cymodoceaceae), all in the order Alismatales (in the clade of monocotyledons). Seagrasses evolved from terrestrial plants which recolonised the ocean 70 to 100 million years ago.
