''L'Enfer'' () is a 2025 French comic book by Nicolas Badout. Set in 1962, it is about Marcel whose jealousy makes him increasingly paranoid and makes him hallucinate about his wife Odette being unfaithful. It is in black and white and based on Henri-Georges Clouzot Henri-Georges Clouzot (; 20 November 1907 – 12 January 1977) was a French film director, screenwriter and producer. He is best remembered for his work in the thriller film genre, having directed '' The Wages of Fear'' (1953) and '' Les Diabo ...'s troubled and abandoned film '' Inferno''. published the comic book on 5 March 2025. Philippe LeBas of ' wrote that comics, as a visual medium without the economic restraints of filmmaking, suits the story well, and that the subject remains relevant. Henri-Georges Clouzot
Henri-Georges Clouzot (; 20 November 1907 – 12 January 1977) was a French film director, screenwriter and producer. He is best remembered for his work in the thriller film genre, having directed '' The Wages of Fear'' (1953) and '' Les Diaboliques'' (1955), which are critically recognized as among the greatest films of the 1950s. He also directed documentary films, including '' The Mystery of Picasso'' (1956), which was declared a national treasure by the government of France. Clouzot was an early fan of the cinema and, desiring a career as a writer, moved to Paris. He was later hired by producer Adolphe Osso to work in Berlin, writing French-language versions of German films. After being fired from UFA studio in Nazi Germany due to his friendship with Jewish producers, Clouzot returned to France, where he spent years bedridden after contracting tuberculosis. ''Henri-Georges Clouzot's Inferno'' (French title: ''L'Enfer d'Henri-Georges Clouzot'') is a film directed, written and produced by Henri-Georges Clouzot, cinematography by Andréas Winding and Armand Thirard, which remained unfinished in 1964. It was presented in 2009 as a full-length semi-documentary by . It was adapted by Chabrol from the screenplay by Henri-Georges Clouzot for the unfinished film '' L'Enfer'', which Clouzot began shooting in 1964 but was unable to complete. The producer of Chabrol's film was Marin Karmitz and the leading actors were Emmanuelle Béart and François Cluzet. Plot summary Paul (Cluzet) and Nelly (Béart) are a married couple who run a successful hotel. Paul begins to suspect Nelly of being unfaithful, and eventually descends into paranoia from which there is no escape.
