L'Auberge Espagnole
''L'Auberge Espagnole'' (; literally: "the Spanish inn"), also known as ''Pot Luck'' (UK) and ''The Spanish Apartment'' (Australia), is a 2002 French-Spanish film directed and written by Cédric Klapisch. It is a co-production of Mate Production, Via Digital, BAC Films, ', France 2 Cinéma and Studio Canal). An economics graduate student from France, Xavier, spends a year in Barcelona to study. His fellow Erasmus students are from all over Western Europe and have a flatshare. They each speak different languages and have different cultural standards. The film is told in the first person by Xavier. The dialogue is mostly in French, with some English and much Spanish, a little Catalan, Danish, German and Italian. It is the first part of the '' Spanish Apartment'' trilogy, which continues in the sequels '' Russian Dolls'' (2005) and ''Chinese Puzzle'' (2013). Cédric Klapisch
Cédric Klapisch ( ; born 4 September 1961) is a French film director, screenwriter and producer. Life and career Klapisch was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine. He is from a Jewish family; his maternal grandparents were deported to Auschwitz. He studied cinema at the University of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelle as well as at the University of Paris VIII. He was rejected on two occasions by the French film school IDHEC (Institut des hautes études cinématographiques), now known as La fémis. He later attended the film school at New York University from 1983 to 1985. During the 1980s, he started to shoot short films such as ''In transit'' or ''Ce qui me meut''. He subsequently worked as a scriptwriter and he became a director for feature films. He has also directed a nature documentary for French television. ''Le Figaro'' () is a French daily morning newspaper founded in 1826. It is headquartered on Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. Jacno
Jacno (3 July 1957 in Paris – 6 November 2009) was a French musician. Born as Denis Quilliard, he was a founding member of the first French punk band The Stinky Toys. In the early 1980s, after the group disbanded, he teamed up with former Stinky Toys singer Elli Medeiros to form the pop duo Elli et Jacno. Jacno had also released a number of solo albums since 1979. He took his professional name from the name of the graphic artist who drew the Gallic helmet logo of French Gauloises cigarettes brand. In 1999, the Italian DJ Gigi D'Agostino used the track Rectangle for his song La Passion. The song was a hit in Austria and Belgium where it became a number-one single, and was very popular in other European countries.
