Kuyavian-Pomeranian (European Parliament Constituency)
In European elections, Kuyavian-Pomeranian () is a constituency of the European Parliament. It consists of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. Nomenclature The relevant Polish legislation ("The Act of 23 January 2004 on Elections to the European Parliament") establishing the constituencies does not give the constituencies formal names. Instead, each constituency has a number, territorial description, and location of the Constituency Electoral Commission. The 2004 Polish National Election Commission and the 2004 European Parliament Election website uses the territorial description when referring to the constituency, not the electoral commission location. The Initiative for Poland ( pl, Inicjatywa dla Polski) or IdP, was a short-lived centre-right Christian democratic Polish political party. Kosma Tadeusz Złotowski (born 14 January 1964 in Bydgoszcz, Poland) is a Polish politician who was a member of both chambers of the Polish parliament (1997-2001, 2005-2007), President (=Mayor) of Bydgoszcz (1994-1995) and a member of Bydgoszcz City Council (2002-2005). , graduated in Polish philology from University of Warsaw. In 2004, obtained the degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Dominican University in Chicago. After 1994 local election new Bydgoszcz City Council elected him as the President (=Mayor) of Bydgoszcz. He served in this office between July 1994 and July 1995 and was replaced by Henryk Sapalski. Eugeniusz Kłopotek (born 15 November 1953 in Chojnice, Poland) is a Polish politician who is a member of the Sejm of Poland (1997-2005 and since 2007), member of the European Parliament (2004) and member of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Regional Assembly (2006-2007). Between 1982 and 1988 he was a Head of Gmina Warlubie ( pl, Naczelnik Gminy Warlubie); currently Vogt (''Wójt''). Democratic Left Alliance
The Democratic Left Alliance () was a social-democratic political party in Poland. It was formed in 9 July 1991 as an electoral alliance of centre-left parties, and became a single party on 15 April 1999. It was the major coalition party in Poland between 1993 and 1997, and between 2001 and 2005, from which came four Prime ministers: Józef Oleksy, Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz, Leszek Miller and Marek Belka. Tadeusz Antoni Zwiefka (; born 28 December 1954 in Tuchola) is a Polish journalist and politician. Since 2004, member of the European Parliament. Biography Tadeusz Zwiefka comes from Tuchola in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodship, he worked in Szczecin and Warsaw, and today he lives in Poznań. He is an educated lawyer but he works as a journalist in Polish TV (TVP) and a lecturer. He was an editor-in-chief of Polish TV regional centre in Poznań, later a journalist in central TVP1 news (''Wiadomości''), parliamentary reporter, director of the Szczecin TV regional centre. 2009 European Parliament Election In Poland
The 2009 European Parliament election in Poland was the election of the delegation from Poland to the European Parliament in 2009 which took place on 7 June 2009. On 13 February the Sejm (the lower house of the Polish parliament) accepted a proposal for an amendment to the electoral court act to allow voting for the European Parliament election of 2009 to take place over 2 days i.e. the 6 and 7 June 2009. However, on 5 March, the proposal was referred to the Constitutional Tribunal of the Republic of Poland by the Polish President, Lech Kaczyński. The Polish electorate elected 50 MEPs. In the 27 EU Member States, at total of 736 MEPs were elected from 4–7 June 2009. The 2009 European Parliament election was held in the 27 member states of the European Union (EU) between 4 and 7 June 2009.
